Clubs and other music making opportunities

Participating in an ensemble truly is a place for musical, academic, and social-emotional growth.

When a student participates in an ensemble, they are not only forming life skills, they are also forming relationships.

They are not only making music, they are making memories.

Music assembly

Once a week each key stage joins together for a music themed assembly. This consists of singing songs appropriate to the seasonal, religious or school calendar. During this assembly we also encourage any child learning an instrument to perform in front of their peers. We find this gives our children the opportunity to practise and perform for a real purpose and also gives the rest of the school a chance to develop their skills as an audience.

School Orchestra

The Great Binfields Primary School Orchestra is small ensemble and membership is by invitation. We rehearse in the music and drama room once a week and perform to the school, our families and the wider community including 2 nights the Anvil in Basingstoke as part of the Basingstoke Primary Schools' Music concert every June.

Great Binfields Primary School has a number of school choirs that run at different times of the year. We rehearse weekly and perform at a variety of events such as Christmas carols at Tesco and Festival Place in Basingstoke, school events and in June at the Anvil in Basingstoke as part of the Basingstoke Primary Schools' Music concert.

Why join an ensemble?

As member of a music ensemble you are expected to turn up each week to set up, practise your music at home and with your teacher, attend concerts, look after your music, and clear away at the end. In return you will experience...

  • the most amazing buzz from performing together
  • a feeling of pride in your achievements
  • wonderful memories of concerts
  • a sense of belonging and well being
  • a feeling of being swept along with the music
  • an improvement in many other aspects of school learning
