Learning Together, Achieving Forever

Avon Tyrrell - Day 3

After another hearty breakfast (a Full English), the children embarked upon a morning of activities and adventure. We have, once again, witnessed some incredibly brave and courageous children who have achieved great success and surprised themselves with their achievements. The Zip Wire has been a particular highlight of the morning as the children zoomed across the water. With those on the High Ropes facing a huge challenge of climbing to the great heights and then leaping off a wobbly platform to grab and suspended bar! Many children have conquered their fear of heights and are now grinning from ear to ear with pride.

Another highlight of the day has been the challenge course. The children have not only enjoyed testing themselves as individuals and working as a team on lots of challenges, such as balancing a giant seesaw and escaping without touching the wires of ‘The Cube’ as a team, but have loved chucking themselves into the mud under the cargo net, when racing through the course.

The adults have received such lovely feedback from the Avon Tyrrell staff today regarding the children. We are so proud of them. We are looking forward to enjoying a relaxing evening after dinner, with a movie night in our pjs - ahead of our final day of activities tomorrow.

Here are some quotes from the children themselves:

“The zip wire was so fast; I zoomed across the lake. I was worried my shoes were going to slip off but in the end I was doing funny poses in the air for my friends who were watching.” Hridan

“My team did so well when we were making a shelter. I helped carry big logs and collected lots of leaves so we didn’t wet when they put water on the shelter!” Alby

“I felt scared during the High Ropes because it was so high up but in the end I did the ‘leap of faith’ and I felt really proud of myself.” Isla EM

“I really liked the mountain biking as we went on the red route which was very tricky as there were lots of tree routes!” Oliver M

I’m so proud that I did the leap of faith during the High Ropes as I’m a bit scared of heights!” Dylan.
