Our Year 3 children have had a tremendous term learning to play a brass instrument here at GBP. All of the children have benefitted from the programme immensely and the progress they have all made since the beginning of the term has been phenomenal. We certainly have found that we have some budding musicians; some of which are now opting for brass peripatetic music lessons next year - I'm sure you will agree, this is great!.
I have really enjoyed seeing and hearing our children blossom when sharing their achievements today but it was also lovely watching our parents/grandparents really enjoying the celebration event too.
The children have learned so much - not only about the instruments themselves, but musical notation, the context in which the musical instrument is played, the history etc... but they all encouraged each other to gently push themselves and as a result they have surpassed everyone's expectations. I hope every single child is very proud of their achievements.
I would like to thank Mrs Vaughan from Hampshire Music Service. Her planning and teaching has been excellent. She has certainly shared her passion and commitment to brass music as well as to the progress our Y3 children made at school this term (something which I think is very difficult when you are only in for one morning a week!!).
A huge well done to you all. I am one very proud headteacher.
