Pancake Day/Mardi Gras

Pancake races are a super-fun Shrove Tuesday tradition. In this mad-cap activity, people race each other whilst tossing a pancake in a pan. Normally, pancake races are often organised to raise money for charity and help those in need. Awesome! Why not have a family pancake race in your garden or have a flipping contest with a leftover pancake in your house if the weather doesn't allow??

What is Mardi Gras?

Mardi Gras, also known as Fat Tuesday, Shrove Tuesday, Carnival, and even Pancake Day in the UK, is an annual festival which will next be celebrated on 16th February 2021. Falling just before Lent, it traditionally marks the last opportunity for fun and feasting before 40 days of "self-denial". Mardi Gras means "Fat Tuesday" in French.
