During home learning, it is really important to remember that the Early Years Curriculum is based around play. At school the children are learning through play for a large part of the day, therefore it is important that this time to play is replicated at home.
EYFS children should not be expected to spend long periods of time on structured activities, 15 -20 minutes is more than enough.
Throughout the day talk to your child about what they are playing, getting them to explain their thinking and helping them to move forward in their learning e.g. if they always build the same Lego house, maybe next time they could build a whole street.
Children learn through repetition and rehearsal. Therefore it is ok if they want to play with the same things for a few days in a row.
