Year 2’s Great Fire of London Day!
Year 2 had an absolutely amazing Great Fire of London Day on Thursday! The children arrived dressed as people from 1666 and were ready to immerse themselves in this exciting part of history.
We kicked off the day with Three House Theatre, who truly brought our learning to life! The children had so much fun role-playing the events of the Great Fire, from waking up in the bakery on Sunday morning to working together to put out the fire on Thursday.
We then became reporters for the day, creating our very own news reports: “Reporting live from London, 1666!” The children did a fantastic job bringing the events to life and sharing the latest news.
Teamwork was also at the heart of our day as we took part in a bucket-passing challenge, working together in teams just as people did to try to put out the fire.
We also produced some incredible sketches of houses, carefully observing details and developing our drawing skills.
To finish off our fantastic week, we enjoyed a Design and Technology day, creating our very own fire engines! The children worked incredibly hard to attach their wheels and axles, showing brilliant perseverance, problem-solving and teamwork.
What a wonderful week of history, creativity and hands-on learning! We are so proud of all the hard work and enthusiasm Year 2 have shown.
