Medical Advice and Guidance
We now have a new procedure in place for head bumps.
- Any pupil who suffers a head bump will be issued with a "bumped head wristband". This will make all staff aware that a head bump has occurred.
- A wristband will be given to any child who has presented to a first-aider with a bump to their head or neck area which includes eyes, ears, nose, lips etc
- The wristband notifies you that one of our first-aiders looked after and assessed your child and at the time it was not thought necessary to refer the child for further attention.
- The wristband will indicate the time and date of the incident.
- Parents will then receive a call from the school informing them that their child has a significant bumped their head. (head area or any blood incidents)
- If, when assessed, we feel the child should be sent home, we will contact parents/carers immediately by phone.
- A bumped head letter will be given to the adult collecting the child from school.
- Wristbands should be taken off at home that evening.
