SEND Pathway

At Great Binfields Primary School we follow the national graduated approach to SEND.  Once we identify a child's needs, we then work to provide support in carefully planned steps, adapting them when necessary.  We try to involve families at every stage so that everyone is kept fully informed and involved, ensuring a consistent approach in supporting the individual.

Steps for supporting concerns

1 Concern identified

Parent and teacher discussions (with child if appropriate).

Teacher will make adaptions to provision.  This support will be part of the Ordinarily Available Provision.

2. Concerns continue

Teacher and SENDCo will meet for discussion.  This may result in:

  1. Further OAP strategies suggested.
  2. Meeting with SENDCo and parents.
  3. Reaching out to external professionals.

3. Monitoring

SENDCo and Teacher will monitor the strategies to see if there is a persistent need.

4. SEN Support

Monitoring indicated that provision additional to or different from OAP is required.

Provision Map created by class teacher.  Supported by SENDCo and shared with child and parents.

Provision Map reviewed in school every half term and shared with parents.

Additional assessments carried out in school if appropriate.

Support from external professionals may be sought.

5. Request for EHCP

If progress is not being made and the SEN needs cannot be met through the adaption provision and SEN support, then a request for an EHCP may take place.
