SEN Support

If we feel that a child is needing more support than our ordinarily available provision, we will invite you in for a chat and discuss putting in place more tailored support.  This would involve putting your child onto our SEN register and would allow us to provide more specific adjustments to help your child continue to make progress and thrive.

Provision Maps

If your child moves onto our SEN register, they will receive a provision map.  This is a document that highlights not only the areas of need for your child, but also their strengths.  It gives everyone who is working with your child as much detail as possible to help your child continue to succeed.  On the provision map it will specify what adjustments your child will be able to access, as well as set any targets that are appropriate.

Teachers and support staff will regularly review the provision maps and make changes when needed.  You will receive an updated copy at the start of each term so that you know what is being done to support your child and what they are currently working on.

The adjustments may include things such as:

  • Intervention groups – these may happen within the classroom or away from the room.
  • Additional time to complete work.
  • use of a scribe or other methods to record work.
  • Overlearning opportunities.
  • Adapted presentation of work.
  • Adjustments to the curriculum.
  • Working with other professionals such as speech and language therapists, educational psychologists, play therapists or OT.
  • Pre-planned movement/ brain breaks
  • Adjustments to lunchtime or assembly routines.
  • Increased use of visuals

We encourage you to discuss the provision map with your child's class teacher if you are unsure of anything on there.
