Learning Together, Achieving Forever

Year 1 Farm day

Year 1 had a very exciting day today! We had a real farm visit our school field as part of our Farm topic. We were able to see donkeys, lamb, piglets, guinea pigs, rabbits, turkeys, goats and much more! First the children were able to explore the animals, including brushing the animals and stroking their backs. We then had a talk from Farmer Sarah and Farmer Liv. They told us all about the different animals and why they keep them at the farm. We were also able to have a go at milking a pretend cow which the children loved doing. Farmer Sarah then taught us how butter and cheese is made and we had a go at making our own butter! Lastly we had a talk about all the different birds including the turkey and the ducks. We then got to stroke them. The turkey felt different to what we expected.

The children had so much fun and they even said it was 'the best day ever.'

We will be writing about our adventure at the farm over the next few weeks.
