Learning Together, Achieving Forever

Year 4 Greek Day

What a fab day we have had in Year 4, celebrating our themed learning all around the Ancient Greeks. The children came in dressed in amazing outfits, ranging from gods, goddesses and warriors. We loved seeing everyone dressed up. We then completed a democratic vote (democracy is one of our concepts this half term) on who is the most important in Greek society. We had slaves, women, scholars, Olympians and warriors to read about and then work as a team to create a convincing pitch as to why they were most essential to Greek society. After break, we looked at some Ancient Greek replica artefacts. We were amazed! We had to use our skills of justification to try explain what we thought each object was, all before Miss Grove and Miss Hanafin revealed the answers. Later in the day we started listening to our new Blended Reading text - Who Let the Gods out. And then finally we completed a scratch art piece, showcasing our understanding of Greek amphoras. This was a really fun test of our artistic skills. Whilst all of this was happening, Year 4 were busy cooking up a storm in the kitchen. We made lamb koftas, Greek salad, flatbread, halloumi and tzatziki. I wonder if any of you will try to recreate these delights at home?

Have a look at the photos to see what we go up to.
