Year 5 Aim Higher - Winchester University Visit

Year 5 had the pleasure of meeting four representatives from the University of Winchester today to discuss their aspirations for the future and introduce them to the idea of studying at university. Beech and Chestnut class were able to meet and interact with current university students and also start to think about how they could make a positive contribution to society in the future, whilst pursuing their dreams at the same time! The children particularly liked the fact that for most courses there are less than 12 hours of compulsory lectures that they have to attend each week, compared to the 30 hours that they are currently in school for. Subsequently, the students informed the children that their week at university also consists of a large proportion of personal study too, among other things! Both classes thoroughly enjoyed their sessions and gained a lot from thinking about their goals for the future.
