Meet The Governors

Our Governing Body

Our governing body is made up of volunteers, staff and parents. They guide and support the strategic direction of the school and offer a variety of skills and experience. Minutes from the Full Governing Board meetings can be accessed via a request to the Headteacher, via the adminoffice email - adminoffice@greatbinfields.hants.sch.uk

The Governing Body consists of eleven governors, made up as follows:

• 1 Headteacher
• 1 Staff Governor ( appointed by staff)
• 1 LA Governor (nominated by the county cllr and appointed by the GB)
• 2 Parent Governors (elected by parents)
• 7 co-opted governors (appointed by the board on a skills basis)

The role of the governing body is a strategic one as set out in the Maintained Schools Governance Guide. Its core functions are in ensuring:

• that the vision, ethos and strategic direction of the school are clearly defined
• the policies and procedures for operationally achieving those aims and objectives are fit for purpose
• the sound, proper and effective use of the school's financial resources
• the progress the school is making towards achievement of its aims and objectives are on track through monitoring and evaluation
• Be a source of challenge and support to the headteacher (a critical friend)

Committees

The Finance Committee is responsible for overseeing the school's financial health, budgets and ensuring fiscal responsibility.

The Curriculum Committee is essential for monitoring, reviewing, and approving quality of teaching and learning programmes and policies to ensure they meet the academic standards and respond to pupils needs.

The HR Committee oversees human resources functions, including staff recruitment, performance management, and ensuring compliance with employment regulations.
