  • Whoop Whoop! What a Wicked Art Festival Exhibition

Fri 27 May 2016 Miss Rogers

A big thank you to all of you who came to our superb Art Festival Exhibition this afternoon. It was fabulous wasn't it?! I'm sure that you will agree that the children have done amazingly well. They have experienced a huge range of art techniques this week as well as learned lots about endangered animals too. The children have experienced painting, collage, clay, glass fusing, batik, mosaic making, printing, origami, sugar-crafting, modroc modelling, pastel drawing and silk painting.

Thank you children for trying your hardest and thank you to our super team of staff and volunteers who 'worked their socks off' this week too.....and special thank you to Miss Finnimore who lead our merry crew this week.

I wonder what the theme will be next year??? Our children will be voting for their favourite theme.

  • Day 5

Fri 27 May 2016 Miss Lyddon

Day 5 Of Our Fabulous Art Festival Week!

The children have had some amazing experiences this week and are ready to show you all their work after school today. Our Art Exhibition is open from 3:15 to 4:00 this afternoon. See you all later.

  • Day 4 of Art Festival Week

Thu 26 May 2016 Miss Rogers
Everything is starting to come together. I hope that you have all enjoyed responding to our daily emails where we have asked questions about either the animal kingdom or art. Check out the photos below. We are looking forward to welcoming you into school tomorrow to see everything the children has achieved this week. I promise that you will be astounded with the quality of our children's pieces.
  • Day 3 of our Art Festival

Wed 25 May 2016 Miss Rogers

So what have our children been up to today? Well they have surpassed our expectations once again...it is amazing seeing them try out new art techniques and be so creative. So many of our children have moments when they have been incredibly proud which is lovely to see. Our teachers, LSAs and volunteers have all reported how much they are enjoying this week too.

I must add that the children's home-learning projects are amazing.  It is great to see how different they all are - keep them coming in. As you will see from the pictures below, I have added some photos of some of the home-learning we have in school so far. All home-learning projects will be on show during our art exhibition on Friday.

Finally we had another real artist in school yesterday called Jackie Smith who lives and works in London and she is the aunt of a year 6 child in our school. She really enjoyed working with our year 1 children and they certainly enjoyed working with her. A great big thank you for giving up your time to travel down to work with us and who knows, maybe she has inspired some of our little'uns to be artists when they grow up.

Another update will be posted tomorrow and please keep Friday afternoon free and visit our art exhibition.

  • Day 2 of Art Fest

Tue 24 May 2016 Miss Rogers

Our children have continued to put in a huge effort. The photographs below show that. We have some budding artists as they have shown determination to get the job done well - well done to you all. You should be so, so proud of what you have achieved so far!

Thank you also to the artists who have been working with us this week. Mrs Jackie Smith who is an artist working in London has worked with our KS1 children today and Mrs Clement from Alison's Wonderland at Viables worked with Year 2,3 and 4 yesterday. She is due in again on Thursday. Mr peter Williams, one of our governors has been patiently working on a giant elephant with our year 5/6 children.

  • Year 5/6 Tag Rugby Tournament

Tue 24 May 2016 Miss Rogers

I have just come back after watching 3 games and the children are doing us so proud. Playing well as a team and really put a huge amount of effort in. So far they have won all of their games so I'm hoping they do well this afternoon when they play a further 2 games.

A huge thank you to our team for representing our school so brilliantly and for Mr Wood and Miss Grainger for coaching them. I would also like to thank Mr Roger Filby for organising this event. It is a well established event and I've been going on and off since 1997 but it still takes a lot of organising and our kids really appreciate it. They are loving the competitive side of sport here at GBP.

Let's hope they continue to do well this afternoon. Their aim is to do better than they did last year which was when they received a bronze - so I will be rooting for them.

  • Day 1 Art Festival Week

Mon 23 May 2016 Miss Rogers

Day One - Lots of preparation work for big class pictures and there is still finishing off needed but as you can see our children have been very busy this morning. We have introduced lots of new techniques too. I hope that your children will come home talking about some of them.

Enjoy the first set of photos.

  • It's Art Festival Week

Mon 23 May 2016 Miss Rogers

Wey hey - it is art week and the theme is 'Animal Kingdom' with a special focus on Endangered Animals. This morning Miss Finnimore and I will be launching the week with a special assembly and then the children will be starting their journey around the school to work with different teachers. We have some artists working us this week too. Daily updates will reveal all. Also each day, a text/email will be sent home so you too can enjoy our children's art festival week.

Please don't forget that we have an exhibition on Friday - so you can see what all of our children have achieved throughout this week. It will be on from 3.15 until 4pm.

  • Year 2 Test Their Boats

Fri 20 May 2016 Miss Rogers
Our year 2 children have been making boats and today some of the children tested them out on our pond to see if they floated. Check out the photos below - their designs worked well!
  • Year 1 Secret Garden Adventure

Fri 20 May 2016 Miss Rogers

Our Year 1 children had a super afternoon pretending to be in a secret garden which was actually our woodland. The Year 1 team and a super group of volunteers set up various activities around the woodland for the children to complete and they also had a picnic which was fabulous. It was lovely seeing the children have their freedom in our woodland - choosing which activities to have a go at. It was a lovely afternoon and the weather was really kind to us.
