  • Hampshire Music Services ICT sessions for our children with visual impairment

Mon 11 Jan 2016 Bernadette Stout

We were lucky enough to have Gary Munday from Hampshire Music Services ICT,  introduce and teach us how to use specific APPs which are helping us to develop musical dimensions such as: pitch, duration, rhythm, timbre, etc.

We have had great fun making our own soundboard, which will help us to create atmosphere for stories in class and could be used when we are studying different topics in class and in the outside environment.

Gary Munday, (tutor) ‘The children will produce an untuned composition and/or a set of samples to heighten their understanding of the musical dimensions.’

The children produced some interesting untuned compositions, and really enjoyed experimenting with sound!

  • Warburtons visits Year 3/4

Mon 11 Jan 2016 Mrs Hill
Year 3/4 enjoyed a brilliant learning experience last week! The bakers 'Warburtons' visited both Hazel and Pine class and carried out an engaging workshop on healthy eating, and even Kermit the frog (who features on their latest advert) made an appearance too. The children learnt about the importance of a balanced diet, how to properly wash their hands and prevent germs from spreading when cooking, and were also given the challenge of creating their own healthy sandwich. Part of the challenge was that they had to include at least one slice of brown bread, only one portion of meat and dairy and as much salad as they wanted. Take a look at the photos below...as you can see we all enjoyed wearing our hair nets!
  • Welcome Back!

Wed 06 Jan 2016 Miss Rogers

Welcome back and Happy New Year everyone,

I hope you all managed to have a super Christmas break with your families.

I just wanted to say that the children have come back to school brilliantly and are ready for this term's learning. It has been lovely hearing our children's news about what they got for Christmas and what they got up too.

On Monday, our staff worked hard in their 'Focus Teams' carrying out tasks highlighted on our primary (Maths, English and Science) and secondary (The Arts, PE and ICT) focus action plans. After speaking with the Team Leaders it is clear that all of our staff were very productive. Many new and exciting initiatives to enhance our curriculum further are being put into place.
