Here at Great Binfields Primary we want to set our children up to succeed in a world which is becoming increasingly digital. We take Digital Literacy very seriously and are fortunate to have access to a wide range of IT equipment, including I-pads and Beebots. E-safety is embedded throughout the curriculum as it is vital our pupils know how to stay safe online. Best of all, our pupils have great FUN through their Computing learning and this is at the heart of all we do throughout the curriculum.

Safer Internet Day
Every year we celebrate Safer Internet Day. This year, we celebrated 'Too good to be true? Protecting yourself and others from scams online'.
- We looked at what a scam is and how we can be more aware of what one may look like
- We looked at the acrostic SCAM: sounds too good to be true, contact you did not expect, asking for personal information, money or a trade is asked for
- We looked at different scenario cards and matched them to each letter of the SCAM acrostic
- We went 'phishing' and looked at how scammers 'hook' us in pretending to be someone or something - a bit like fishing!
- We looked at protecting our personal information online using our SMART e-safety rules (Staying Safe, Meeting Up, Accepting Files, Reliability, Telling Trusted adults)
- We looked at password generators and the importance of using Sp£c!a1 symbols to make them less predictable and more safe
We had great fun and learnt lots in the process too!

Digital Leaders
This year we have continued with our wonderful Digital Leaders, who are Computing Ambassadors throughout the school. They take on a number of key roles and help their teachers to troubleshoot when Computing goes wrong (as sadly it does from time to time!). They also promote the importance of e-safety and remind their peers of this on a regular basis. Take a sneaky peak at their Job Description (which they take very seriously ;-)
