Artist in Year 1
Yesterday Chestnut Class had a visit from a Spanish Artist (who now lives locally) called Fátima Pantoja Fernandez and today she came back in to work with Oak class.
She did a talk about her background and how she became interested in Art, followed by talking about another Spanish Artist - Picasso. The children then got the chance to take part in a Picasso inspired workshop where they created 3D portraits; made out of recycled materials Year 1 collected.
She then showed the children how she creates her own portraits - in under 10 minutes. She used different children as model's for this!
It was great to see how enthusiastic the children were and to see them taking risks with their creativity.
The children's work is displayed in their classroom and on the window - feel free to pop in and come and have a look!
