En Guard!
The French warning to “be aware” should have prepared us for the transformation which overtook Pine class recently as they enjoyed an introduction to the sport of fencing. Over three sessions the children learned the basics of fencing etiquette and movement – but oh so much more! What a delight to see the many facets of learning unfold during the final lesson. We witnessed improved concentration and co-ordination, greater spatial awareness, and numerous unsolicited offers of assistance to help others to put on their tabard and helmet. It is no exaggeration to say that the adults present that morning including NAME the tutor, glowed with pride. Well done Pine Class, what a memorable experience.
