Our Year 1 children have been learning about the history of toys. We were very lucky to have Mr Cushing, the very first headteacher of Great Binfields Primary, come to share his extensive knowledge of old toys. Mr Cushing was able to take the children on an awe inspiring journey all the way back to the Stone age right through to modern day. He talked about the materials that toys are and have been made from over the years and how they move with various mechanisms. It was wonderful to see that the overlying message that toys are only as good as your imagination will allow was clear to the children. They impressed Mr Cushing with their knowledge so far and they made us very proud with how they displayed our school values, being respectful of the artefacts and to Mr Cushing himself.
