Prefects

SCHOOL PREFECTS

While members of the Pupil Parliament are chosen democratically by children, Prefects apply for their jobs in years 5 and 6. Prefects are awarded badges that identify them to staff, pupils and visitors. This year we had so many applications that we now have PURPLE and BLUE Prefects.

The main role of the Prefects is to develop responsibility.

Prefects are, in a sense, junior members of staff and are expected to take their role seriously. A Prefect’s role is varied, and to be awarded a school Prefect badge is considered to be a real privilege.

A Prefect’s responsibilities will include assisting in the management of the school; showing visitors around the school; working in the school office; helping the headteacher with new parent visits; helping in the lunch hall; and generally helping out around the school. The Prefect Team works to a timetable of responsibilities.
