World Book Day was a great success at Great Binfields! We started the day by listening to ‘The Story Machine’ by Tom McLaughlin which tells the story of Elliott, a boy who loves finding things, and discovers a mysterious, silent typewriter. Initially struggling to create, he realises he can use the machine to make pictures that tell stories. When the machine breaks, Elliott learns that creativity comes from within himself, not the machine. Each class then wrote some fantastic pieces of writing using the book as a stimulus.

We also paired up with our buddy classes and had a great time sharing books, stories and our own writing with each other. There was a real creative buzz around the school!

Last, but not least, the costumes… they were brilliant! We had a proper mixture from Mary Poppins, to The Hungry Caterpillar, to The Cookie Monster!
