At Great Binfields Primary School we follow the Spelling Shed spelling scheme. Children engage in Spelling Shed lessons each week and complete a weekly home learning task on the Spelling Shed app. They are then tested on the word families they have learned through a mixture of single word testing and dictation. Children develop their knowledge about the relationship between sounds and letters and how the meaning of root words can be altered with suffixes and prefixes. Etymology of words is also discussed so the children are aware of where certain words originate from.
