Rugby Tournament at Oakley School!

Mr Wood and I shall be beaming all weekend with the pride that we have for the amazing young ladies who represented Great Binfields in the girls rugby tournament this afternoon. With the wind and rain to contend with too, our team of eight strong Year 4, 5 and 6 children shone in their team work , commitment and decision making skills throughout the 6 games that they played. Having won 3 of our games and drawing one too, we progressed through to the semi-finals of the tournament. As the game progressed against Sherborne St John’s, it was clear that we were equally matched with our skill and determination to succeed. After the five minute game had been played, we were neck and neck with a score of 4-4. Subsequently, we played on an extra 2 minutes in which Sherborne St John’s took the win by a cat’s whisker, defeating us 3-2. The girls held their heads high and were proud of their efforts through the afternoon. For some of our new children, who have just started playing rugby this season, it was a wonderful chance to see their confidence grow and provide the opportunity to play with some of our more experienced rugby players. Well done girls! A phenomenal afternoon.

A big thank you to Mr Wood too for inspiring and coaching our wonderful team!
