Year 4 - Aviation adventure, careers in the sky
Today, Year 4 were lucky enough to attend a virtual webinar run by Education and Employers, talking all about careers linked to aviation. The children could name a few jobs they knew would be linked but we heard about many others that we had no idea even existed until they were shared. There were three guest speakers, one a pilot for Easyjet, one a radio engineer and the other a control room operator. We learnt all about their roles, including the best bits and the challenging parts as well as hear about how they ended up in that career. It was incredibly interesting and even the adults felt inspired by the career paths chosen. The speakers told us how they used many of our values in order to be successful, including resilience and cooperation as well as key skills linked to effective communication and patience.
The top tips from the three speakers included:
Will the pilot- Always persevere and show passion. If you are passionate about aviation, you could find yourself in the flight deck.
Kim the control room operator- When you find yourself doing lots of things at the same time, remain calm and try to continue multi-tasking.
Stuart the radio engineer - Ask lots of questions- don't be afraid to ask what you might think is a silly question. Go ahead and ask.
