Year 6 Bikeability

This week, Year 6 have taken part in a series of Road Safety proficiency sessions delivered by the Hampshire Bikeability team. The weather has been absolutely perfect and the children have thoroughly enjoyed getting to grips with specific manoeuvres and reminders about how to ride safely on the road.

The children have learnt how to signal, how to perform a U-turn in the road and how to safely exit a junction using the 'Look, Block, Signal' strategy amongst other road safety skills. The children have all been very sensible and listened carefully to the instructions before practising the manoeuvres themselves. The children still have one more day to continue practising their new skills before being awarded with their cycling proficiency level 2 certificate.

Everyone has shown excellent perseverance and we are really proud of how confident they have become when cycling on the road.

Here are a few quotes from the children:

"Bikeability has been good fun and I have really enjoyed it. I feel much more confident riding on the road." Joel C.
