Year 6 kick started their half term with an incredible opportunity to watch a performance of Matilda at Costello Secondary School today. Having recently used Matilda as a writing stimulus in our English lessons, we simply could not turn down the chance to watch a live performance of the stage show at our feeder secondary school. More importantly, it was amazing to see some of our previous Great Binfields children flourishing on the stage – a special shout out to Ava T (Matilda), Pippa M (Mrs Phelps - librarian), Filipa L (Miss Honey) and Lillianna L (Matilda’s brother) for their performances. They were simply incredible and gave us goosebumps with their renditions of their respective roles.

The Year 6 children were thrilled that we were starting the term with a school trip but also in awe of the talents of the children in the show. It provided a moment of real ‘aspiration’, one of our school values, as to what they could achieve and be part of next year.

We enjoyed a picnic in the park after the show. What a fabulous day we’ve had Year 6. Once again, thank you for the invitation Costello😊
