Year One Secret Garden Day
Once again, Year One is coming to the end of another brilliant topic - The Secret Garden. This topic has given us the chance to really use our imaginations to create unique and special versions of our own secret gardens and Narnia-style lands. We have spent a lot of time outside enjoying our school grounds and to celebrate the end of this topic, we had a Secret Garden Day. In the morning the children rotated around 5 activities; flower making, plant pot designing, biscuit flower decorating, secret post card writing and garden windmill decoration making. The children had lots of challenges to face in these activities and had so much fun completing them. Then in the afternoon, after sharing their fantastic royal wedding themed projects, the children had two more activities. One was a secret garden page where they opened the doors and created beautiful designs with labels about what they would see in their garden. The second activity was a treasure hunt in the woodland - with the prize being extra play on the adventure playground.
The children really impressed us with their creative and engaged attitude to their learning. What a wonderful day! Have a look at the photos to see what we got up to.
