  • Easter activities

Why don’t you try some of these fabulous family activities? I’m sure you will have lots of fun if you do.

    Happy Easter everyone.

  • Some of our children visit Southampton Art Gallery

Wed 28 Mar 2018 Ms Rogers
Our children really enjoyed their art gallery experience today. They not only produced a superb wire sculpture which are all now displayed in our library at school but they saw some beautiful art within the gallery itself. A huge thank you to the Education Team for making our day so special. The children really appreciated the different styles of art and the mediums used. Together we all looked deeply into some of the many beautiful paintings... which gave us lots of historical clues about the time period. We hope there will be lots of discussion tonight and that your children will eagerly share their special day with you.
It goes without saying, all of our kids made Miss Lemar and myself very proud. They were courteous, calm, interested, enthusiastic and very respectful throughout. Thank you to Miss Lemar who helped me enormously by organising the trip this year - you did a grand job.
Check out the photos below that were taken throughout the day. Some are of the children practicing their new found skills and others are of them appreciating art. Please do come into school to see the children's wire creations as they are so good. The children will be teaching the wire sculpting skills they learned with the rest of the children in their classes during our next Art Festival week.  We can't wait.
  • Year 4 trip to Christchurch

Wed 28 Mar 2018 Miss Corcoran
Yesterday, a mixture of children from year 4 had a great time at Christchurch , learning more about the Easter story and taking part in some fun activities. Each group spoke about the symbol of the cross and reminded each other about why we celebrate Easter, we learnt about why the Friday of  Easter weekend is called Good Friday and then we were able to place our own crosses made of twigs onto the Easter garden. We also made Easter Basing stones which we were able to take home with us, so look out for some more around! Everyone took part in a quiz about Christchurch as well. It was such a lovely afternoon and it was great to hear the children sharing their knowledge about Easter and the Christian faith too.

  • Challenge Evening

Thu 22 Mar 2018 Mrs Osborne
Our second Challenge Evening was held yesterday after school. It was lovely to walk through the building and see children and adults working together to solve problems using our school values and Growth Mindset. It was very clear that lots of fun was had by all! Take a look at the photos to see for yourself...
  • Mad Hatter's Tea Party

    Thu 22 Mar 2018
The children in Year 2 had a fantastic time today at their Mad Hatter's tea party. They seemed to have lots of fun sharing their board games with their Grandparents and enjoying all the lovely sandwiches and cakes they had created. Thank you to everyone who came along and showed their support. The children were over joyed to have you there.
  • A play in a day for Year 3

Wed 21 Mar 2018 Mrs Barnhouse
Yesterday the Treehouse Theatre visited Year 3 to create a Victorian 'play in a day', revisiting our Autumn topic of the Victorians. It was certainly a busy day where children were split into four groups in order to create four different scenes. The play then showed different scenarios throughout Victorian times, including children working in the mines, factories and what education was really like! In the afternoon everyone came together to produce the play; it was a great way to learn and remember how much has changed since Victorian times. Have a look at the pictures to see how busy we were!
  • Fun in the snow!

Mon 19 Mar 2018 Miss Lyddon
We had great fun out in the snow this morning and at lunchtime. The children had a snowball fight and made snowmen with their friends. The children did get wet and mucky, but great fun was had by all.
  • SCHOOL IS OPEN! PLEASE READ ADVICE BELOW

Mon 19 Mar 2018 Ms Rogers

We are open but please do take note that we are extending our registration time from 8.30 through to 10.00am so that you can take your time to safely get in to school. Please do not attempt to come down Binfields Farm Lane, Pyotts Copse or any other side roads please as they are still very icy in places. Park up at Tesco by dominoes and carefully make your way to school. Staff will be at various points around the school perimeter to assist. For our Disability children only, please do a drop off in our staff car park. Our staff will assist you from that point.

The children will be coming straight into school. Class doors will be open from 8.30am. Please ensure that they keep to the gritted paths. If you can, please avoid bringing in pushchairs/sledges as the paths we have cut are narrow. You can of course drop your kids at the school gates and they can make their own way to the classroom doors.

    Please do take care everyone.

  • School UPDATE

Sun 18 Mar 2018 Ms Rogers

We are planning to open tomorrow morning if it is safe to do so and we will of course keep you all informed of our decision making so please check our school website, emails and texts before you set off on your journey to school in the morning.  I would like to make it clear that if you do not feel safe about bringing your child to school because of the snow and ice then you will have to make the decision whether you can make that journey as school cannot make that decision for you.

I suggest that the children come in sensible shoes/boots (with a spare pair to wear inside), warm coats, hats and gloves as well so that if there is snow we can have a play after the children have been registered.

Mr Quilter, Mr Quilter senior and myself will be working hard tomorrow morning to clear 2 paths into school. Our snow clearing volunteers who signed up recently - please do come fully armed with spades to help. It would be greatly appreciated.

Miss Lyddon will standing at the top of the school road and will be redirecting traffic as I have been told the road can get very icy... so please do not come down Binfields Farm Lane to drop your children off. Members of our school staff will be stationed at the school gates and I will be in the courtyard. Please can you ensure your children go straight into school - taking real care as the classroom doors will be open from 8.30am. Like I said, when the time is right - we will promise to take them out for a play...but they need to be really sensible first thing. Registration will close later tomorrow - 10am so you don't have the rush of getting the children in by 8.50am.

I have looked at the forecast and if throughout the morning the weather changes and becomes severe we will inform you of any decision to close part way through the day, so please do keep your phones and emails open and regularly check our website.

Once again keep safe and hopefully we will see you all tomorrow, but of course I'm sure you'll understand I will have to close the school once again if I consider that the children and staff's safety are at risk and we certainly don't want anyone to have an accident.
