  • Art Festival Week Coming Up

Sat 20 May 2017 Miss Rogers

We love to ensure that The Arts are celebrated and taught throughout the year at our school and part of this means having an Art Festival Week. This wonderful week which starts on the 22nd May this year is themed 'At the Seaside.' We have 3 guest artists working with us throughout the week who are working with different year groups plus we have a whole host of different art and music techniques to share with our children. Just like in previous years, the end of the week culminates in a Art Festival Exhibition where all of our school community are invited to come in and share what the children have been learning and experiencing throughout the week.

We also have some optional arty themed home learning for you. Look really carefully at the picture below.

    • Respond to the ‘At The Seaside’ painting by Laurence Stephan Lowry in any way you like. We will also be responding to this picture across the school. You may choose a certain technique e.g. painting, oil pastels, watercolour. You may choose to create a sculpture or respond through performing arts such as a song, dance or drama. We look forward to sharing your individual responses! We will be finding out more about him as an artist too!

This home learning will not be marked, but will be shared within your child's class and at the Art Festival Exhibition itself on Friday 26th from 3.10-4pm.

We look forward to seeing you and the rest of your family for this very special occasion.

  • Year 3/4 Rugby Team have brought home a silver trophy!!!

Thu 18 May 2017 Miss Rogers

On Thursday our cracking Year 3/4 Rugby Team went to Overton to play in a tournament. 30 schools were involved on this day and our children were pretty nervous as for many of them, this was the first time they had played rugby competitively.

The team, a mixture of girls and boys, have been training for over a year now and wow have they made super progress. The group of schools they were up against in the first round were tough but our rugby stars managed to win all but one of their group games and the one they didn't win was a draw.

The children just got better and better as the day progressed - working so well as a team by encouraging one another, being there for one another and using their growth mindset skills to the full!

In their last game, the final - the children were up against Fair Oak which is a very large 5 form entry school near Southampton. Our children battled through and were really impressive but just couldn't hold Fair Oak back so we ended up losing the game but by a very small margin!

We are so proud of the children who represented our school so brilliantly. The trophy is proudly sitting with our others just outside our hall.

  • Year 6 Jump Factory SATs treat!

Fri 12 May 2017 Miss Hunt and Mrs Osborne

This afternoon, the Year 6 children enjoyed another well-deserved SATs treat by visiting Jump Factory for a manic bouncing session. As expected, the children were absolutely fearless and enjoyed showing us their many talents from seat dropping and back flipping to a very skilful dodge ball aim - Miss Hunt and Mrs Osborne were subjected to some serious bullying! We hope that they all had a fantastic time. Take a look at our photos to see just how fearless they all were!

The Year 6 staff would just like to say a big thank you to all the adults that helped with the SATs this week. Many hands went into buttering loaves of bread and more importantly, putting the children at ease throughout the testing period. We'd also like to thank the Year 6 parents who have worked tirelessly over the past few months to support their children with their reading, homework and completing revision packs!

The children have all seemed really relaxed this week and have worked their absolute socks off; we are incredibly proud of them all. Now it's time to rehearse for the play!!

  • Year 2 Geography walk

Fri 12 May 2017 Mrs Barnhouse
On Wednesday afternoon Year 2 went for a walk in our local area to investigate human and physical features. There were two groups that went on different walks; one walked through the fields and back through the houses whilst the other group walked down to Bartons Mill. This was so children could get a broader understanding of where we live. Children identified lots of different features; we were able to walk through beautiful countryside seeing what crops the farmer was growing whilst also seeing the incinerator in the distance. Other children walked to Bartons Mill to see the river and saw ducks and geese chasing each other! We all really enjoyed our walk, especially as we had such beautiful weather! The walk helped us further understanding rural and urban features.
  • Year 6 does Kiddie Konga!

Thu 11 May 2017 Mrs Osborne and Miss Hunt
Yesterday afternoon, the Year 6 children took part in a high intensity Kiddie Konga session. This was a well deserved break from their SATs exams. All of the children fully enjoyed the session and were able to let off a bit of steam! We would like to thank the lovely Amanda Doig for delivering the session. Take a look at our pictures to see how we got on!

  • Year 6 Sats Brekkie

Mon 08 May 2017 Ms Rogers

It has been lovely seeing our kids tuck into breakfast this morning before they embarked on their SATs. It is always such a lovely social affair and the children look forward to it. I am once again amazed at how much toast they manage to put away!

We have our SATs brekkie through to Thursday and on Friday the children have their SATs treat, which this year is a trip to the Jump factory.

  • Year 6 Outdoor Area

Mon 08 May 2017 Ms Rogers

Our Year 6 children are enjoying developing their new outdoor space. We have just purchased some out door seating and an outdoor Table tennis table and they are very much enjoying the challenge of playing. Practice will indeed make them better and better.

Watch this space - as more of this area will be developed in the coming months.

  • Totally Tennis Fun!

Thu 04 May 2017 Miss Rogers

Our children did remarkably well at todays' tournament. The children really developed their tennis skills and also popped into practice our whole school work on Growth Mindset. At times it was tricky but they battled on and wouldn't give up - well done everyone. We are proud of your efforts.

Thank you to Totally Tennis for organising the event and our super Mrs Davies and Miss Crossley for taking the children.
