  • Binfields Bake Off

    Wed 25 Jun 2025

Yesterday, the judging of Binfields Bake Off took place! In each class taking part, a finalist was chosen to go through to the grand final. Pupil Parliament took into consideration the appearance of each bake and also completed a taste test. It was really tricky, as every entry looked magnificent and Pupil Parliament confirmed they all tasted delicious. A winner has been chosen for KS1, LKS2 and UKS2. Watch this space for the results...

  • Sports Day

    Thu 19 Jun 2025

Well done for a super successful sports day.  Despite the heat, we saw so much resilience, cooperation and success. We are all very proud of everyone for joining in and having fun. Now that we have finished off some events in our PE lessons, we can reveal our winners. Well done GREEN team!

A big thank you to our Costello helpers and our Sports Leaders for all of their help.

  • Equality and Rights Advocates (EARA) summer meeting

    Tue 17 Jun 2025

Today, Mrs Franklin took our Equality and Rights Advocates to the summer EARA group meeting. Hampshire Equality and Rights Advocates (EARA) are a group of students from Hampshire schools who work collaboratively to promote equality and children's rights in their schools based on the nine protected characteristics of the Equality Act and UNCRC.

In today's session, the children were focusing on the rights of the child and becoming more familiar with the articles of the UNCRC (United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child). They looked at a picture showing different images and discussed whether the graphic displayed rights being met or denied.

After that, the various schools who had attended the meeting were given the opportunity to share something from their own school with the wider group. The GBP Equality and Rights Advocates shared a presentation which they had presented to the rest of Great Binfields in a whole school assembly. Mrs Franklin was incredibly impressed, as it is not easy to speak in such of a large audience. GBP EARA also answered many questions throughout the meeting and showed great participation.

  • EYFS Dad's Afternoon - Friday 13th June

    Mon 16 Jun 2025

On Friday 13th June, our Early Years children had a wonderful afternoon hosting our dads, grandads and special people for an afternoon of fun!

The children directed their special people to the activities such as a blindfolded obstacle course and making newspaper towers! During the week the children had been working hard on making a special gift for the upcoming Fathers Day celebration ( a fantastic 'nuts and bolts' keyring person) and designing personalised cards. The children made a picture of themselves and their special person using natural resources such as twigs and leaves and the results were amazing! These were presented to their loved ones at the end of their special afternoon. The children and adults alike had so much fun, which you will see from the attached pictures! Well done Early Years for making Fathers Day such a lovely event!

  • Year 5 trip to Gilbert White's House

    Sat 07 Jun 2025

Yesterday the Year 5 children had their school trip to Gilbert White's House and Gardens. As part of the trip, the children visited the river in Selborne to calculate the velocity of water, plot a cross section of a stream and explore the invertebrate life in the river. They also created a map of a river system using natural materials and completed an orienteering activity, learning lots of facts about nature and the naturalist Gilbert White along the way. The children were praised by the Gilbert White staff for their enthusiasm. A great day was had and it was a brilliant opportunity for the children to undertake some hands on learning linking to their current 'Journey of a River' topic.

  • Creative Week 2025

    Thu 05 Jun 2025

This week we have been enjoying our Creative Week, which has focussed on celebrating the subjects of English, Art, French and DT. We have been very excited that our work will join other Hampshire schools in taking part in the Small Worlds: Little Things Make a Big Difference exhibition about climate change at the Winchester Gallery (in partnership with Children's Services at Hampshire County Council.)

We have taken inspiration for this topic from the book, 'Here We are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth' by Oliver Jeffers. Each year group has explored a different element of the book. We have used our resilience and cooperation to create individual and collaborative 3D globes, which will be travelling in our school minibus to Winchester to contribute to a globe installation for the exhibition. The children have also been working hard to create a piece of art, based on their theme, which will be selected by Pupil Parliament and turned into a banner by Winchester Art School to be displayed along Park Avenue in Winchester.

The children have been amazing. They have shown such creativity and have engaged in wonderful discussions about Planet Earth and our responsibility to look after it. Have a look at the photos to see what we have been up to but also make sure you head to the exhibition. The details of which are below:

Location: The Winchester Gallery, Winchester School of Art, Park Avenue, SO223 8DL

    Dates: 11th July – 16th August 2025
