  • Darrell Wakelam - Artist Zoom with Year 5 and Year 6

    Fri 13 Dec 2024

On Wednesday, Year 5 and 6 had an exciting opportunity to attend an artist Zoom with 3D artist Darrell Wakelam. We were able to speak with Darrell about his inspiring sculptures, which are made from everyday recycled materials such as cardboard tubes, paper plates, milk bottles and cardboard boxes. He then took the time to show us some of his completed pieces of artwork - we were in awe of his intricate dinosaur that was made entirely of cardboard. Have a look at his website to see some of these pieces of work www.darrellwakelam.com.

We then followed along with Darrell as he made a 3D snowman using just cardboard and masking tape. We used recycled cereal boxes for our own ones. We then learnt tips on how to use tissue paper and PVA glue to paint a background - this took a lot of patience.

We were so impressed with the children's attitude to tackling a new form of creating 3D art. Have a look at the pictures to see our Winter creations.

  • Year 6 Boys football match at Castle Hill

Fri 13 Dec 2024 Mrs Gough

The Year 6 boys had their second football match yesterday at Castle Hill school. Mrs Gough and Miss Thomas were so impressed with their skill, dedication and team work. A special shout out to Logan, our super star goalie and man of the match! Another special shout out to George who showed super sportsmanship to the other team and got a special mention from the Ref.

The game was very close throughout and we ended up drawing 2-2.

    A super game, well done!

  • Year 2 Paddington Performance

    Thu 12 Dec 2024

Year 2 blew us away with their awesome Paddington performance. It was excellent to see the pride on the children's faces whilst they showcased their super learning.  We had children reading out their Paddington Adventure stories, showing their art work, performing the bells and lots of singing!

Well done for showing so much bravery and resilience Year 2. We are all super proud of you.

  • Year 4 Microbits

    Tue 03 Dec 2024

In her Computing lead role, Mrs Holdsworth recently tasked the Y4s with a coding challenge! She provided us with 30 Microbits and set us on a mission to get to know how they work and how to code some very (VERY) cool effects onto them. Miss Heath and Miss Hanafin were a little nervous at first as these little devices looked very new, very tricky and very complicated. Time to show our value of resilience, we thought. But as soon as we had a play around and started learning some tricks, we absolutely fell in love with this new Computing topic and got started right away.

The Year 4 children have already been able to pair their Microbits, create flashing patterns, show words, smiley faces, messages and use them to play 'yes' 'no' game. Pine Class even got onto adding Music! The excitement in the room was wonderful and everyone had a real wow moment as we saw our coding come to life. We will be carrying on using the Microbits throughout the year and as the first year group in the school to explore them, we give a 10/10 review!

  • Early Years Nativity!

    Mon 02 Dec 2024

In December, the Early Years children took on the huge task of retelling the Christmas story, by working together to perform the Christmas Nativity for everyone to enjoy. We began by learning the song words and actions, and then moved on to acting out our parts and learning our lines. We even learned Twinkle Twinkle Little Star in Matakon!  After lots of practise, we then performed in front of the KS1 and our parents and carers!  Everyone was so proud of what they achieved!
