Lights, Camel, Action - KS1 Performance
Fri 10 Dec 2021I know it doesn't take me much these days to get emotional when I beaming with pride but my goodness me.... our KS1 children were absolutely incredible this week when they performed their Christmas Play called 'Lights Camera, Action!'. The songs were fabulous and very catchy...although very difficult to learn I imagine. The acting and dancing was superb too - so well choreographed and the audience laughed lots. It was great seeing the children go into role so well - watch out Craig, Anton, Shirley and Motsi .... our children are after your jobs!
It is incredible how they have all grown in confidence.
Check out the photos below - they all look adorable! You will receive a recorded version on Seesaw very soon so those that couldn't come to watch it, get a chance to enjoy it too.

Year 5 get their skates on!
Thu 09 Dec 2021The Year 5 children enjoyed their DT day where they designed and made ice skate Christmas decorations. They used different stitches such as blanket stitch and running stitch to join pieces of fabric together. Buttons, sequins and beads were also sewn on as embellishments. Their next step will be to evaluate their finished products. Take a look at the photos to see them in action…

Y3 Brass Listen 2 Me Christmas Concert
Wed 08 Dec 2021This term Year 3 have been learning how to play brass instruments with Mrs Vaughan from the Listen 2 Me programme run by Hampshire Music Service. The children have been playing cornets and the euphonium. The children have been so impressive, picking up the technique of buzzing to play the sound very quickly. We have then been learning how to play different notes which culminated in a concert of songs played to parents.
Year 3 parents/carers check out the videos sent to your Seesaw accounts of the wonderful performance from Hazel and Hawthorn Class.

Year 5 Visit the Library
Fri 03 Dec 2021Year 5 had a fantastic afternoon at Chineham Library. The library staff read a story to them and they also had chance to search for books using the Dewey Decimal System. As well as this, some children coloured in some Christmas baubles for Chineham Library's Christmas display. The children were all beautifully behaved and should be very proud of themselves. Take a look at the photos to see what they got up to...

Year 3 Golden Trail treat
Fri 03 Dec 2021Both Hazel and Hawthorn have worked so hard this Autumn term and have continually shown the Great Binfields values, in class and outside of class. As a result, they have raced to the finish of their Golden Trails, earning all of their golden spots!
We chose to have a pj party, watch a Christmas movie and have hot chocolate (with whipped cream and marshmellows). The children truly deserved this treat. They make us very proud every day. Have a look at the photos of the children (we apologise in advance for the sugar high from the hot chocs!).
The Year 3 team.

EYFS Nativity
Fri 03 Dec 2021Our EYFS children were fabulous whilst sharing their Nativity Performance. Not only did they sing the songs beautifully - they remembered all of their lines and actions too. I was astonished at how well they all did. What a super bunch of confident people we have and long may that continue!
Thank you for reminding us of the true meaning behind the Christian festival of Christmas - we do appreciate the hard work you have put into this. I hope you all feel very proud.
Thank you also to our wonderful EYFS staff team - you are truely amazing. The children are lucky to have you working with them.
I hope you enjoy the photographs we have for you today.

The Great Fire of London Year 2
Mon 29 Nov 2021Last week, Year 2 had a very exciting activity. We made our own Pudding Lane houses and watched as Mrs Davenport burned them. We discussed how the fire started in Pudding Lane and spread to the other houses. Then we watched this happen to our own houses! We discussed how this made us feel and how the people who lived in Pudding Lane would have felt. We finished by singing 'London's Burning'.

Y5/6 Play Competitive Tag Rugby
Sun 28 Nov 2021Our year 5/6 rugby team worked tremendously well as a team last Thursday after school and were praised the referee for their super passing and team work skills. The children lost their first game, drew their second and won their third game so they got progressively better in what were very cold conditions. The team were deservedly really chuffed with their first tournament of the season and Mr Wood, Miss Lyddon, the parents and I were so proud of you all!
Thank you Mr Wood for coaching them on a Tuesday after school - your hard work is certainly paying off! Thank you to Roger Filby for organising this league and referring.

Year 4 Greek Day
Tue 23 Nov 2021What a fab day we have had in Year 4, celebrating our themed learning all around the Ancient Greeks. The children came in dressed in amazing outfits, ranging from gods, goddesses and warriors. We loved seeing everyone dressed up. We then completed a democratic vote (democracy is one of our concepts this half term) on who is the most important in Greek society. We had slaves, women, scholars, Olympians and warriors to read about and then work as a team to create a convincing pitch as to why they were most essential to Greek society. After break, we looked at some Ancient Greek replica artefacts. We were amazed! We had to use our skills of justification to try explain what we thought each object was, all before Miss Grove and Miss Hanafin revealed the answers. Later in the day we started listening to our new Blended Reading text - Who Let the Gods out. And then finally we completed a scratch art piece, showcasing our understanding of Greek amphoras. This was a really fun test of our artistic skills. Whilst all of this was happening, Year 4 were busy cooking up a storm in the kitchen. We made lamb koftas, Greek salad, flatbread, halloumi and tzatziki. I wonder if any of you will try to recreate these delights at home?
Have a look at the photos to see what we go up to.
