Show Racism the Red Card workshops
Tue 16 Sep 2025Yesterday, Years 4, 5 and 6 all took part in Show Racism the Red Card workshops. Years 4 and 5 took part in their 'Fans of the Future' workshop, whilst Year 6 focussed on 'Hate Crime.' The aims of the workshops were:
-
To educate young people about the causes and consequences of racism and to explore the various forms racism can take.
-
To empower young people to challenge racism in the communities in which they live, providing them with relevant knowledge and information to enable them to do this.
-
To help young people prepare to play an active role as citizens in an increasingly multi-cultural society.
-
To enable young people to develop good relationships and respect the differences between people, regardless of their ethnicity, faith, culture or nationality.
The children got a huge amount from the sessions and gave many thoughtful contributions. It gave them a safe forum to have discussions and ask questions that they may not usually feel as confident about. The children were very engaged and we were really proud of their attitudes towards the sensitive topics being discussed.

Year 5 and 6 Summer Production - Pirates of the Curry Bean!
Thu 17 Jul 2025What a spectacular voyage we all embarked on with Pirates of the Currybean! Our talented crew of Year 5 and Year 6 pupils brought the house down with their charisma, comic timing, and determination on stage. We are so proud of the children's display of creativity, teamwork and the hard work we have witnessed as they have prepared for this production.
It is always wonderful to see how productions like this help the pupils develop confidence, build friendships and discover a new love for storytelling through drama, music and dance. We definitely witnessed future performers on the GBPS' stage!
Thank you to the Year 5 and 6 team for the time given to rehearsal and prop preparation and thank you to all the parents and carers for providing the fabulous costumes and cheering the children on in the audience. Enjoy a selection of photos from the nights.

Year R Trip to Hillier Gardens - 7/7/25
Fri 11 Jul 2025What a wonderful trip to Hillier Gardens Year R had last Monday! The children were super excited to travel there on a double decker coach and took part in lots of activities! These included pond dipping, where the children could observe such creatures as newts, making woodland dens for creatures such as hedgehogs and squirrels and sweeping nets in the long grass to catch different species of minibeasts, such as crickets and spiders! We also spent time walking around the beautiful gardens! The children especially enjoyed walking across the wobbly bridge! We were also extremely lucky with the weather and sat and enjoyed a lovely picnic together! Well done Year R for your fantastic listening skills and displaying our school values throughout the day, and a special thank you to our lovely volunteers to help make our day out so special!

Tue 08 Jul 2025Over the past two Tuesday afternoons, a group of Year 6 pupils have taken part in a writing workshop at Costello School. The project involved the children collaborating with some Year 7 pupils to create a story based on a picture stimulus. All of the adults involved were so impressed with how well the children worked together and the fantastic writing they produced. It was also lovely to see the faces of some old Binfields pupils 😀

Transition Day
Thu 03 Jul 2025Your children have done you proud today. We know days like today can be tricky for some of your children; but my goodness they have shown super levels of resilience! Everybody assembled in the courtyard first thing and there was much excitement as the class teachers (past and present!) took their places outside their new classrooms. This was met with lots of ooooooohs and aaaaaahs, particularly when we announced that Great Binfields now has a MALE teacher!! They were incredibly welcoming to our new members of staff and they have all had a super day here with us at GBP.
It was lovely to see all of the wonderful activities that your super adults had planned for you. Everybody experienced success today and there was a real buzz of excitement in the air. We are really looking forward to September now!
We hope you enjoy seeing your children in action today. Thank you to each and every one of you pupils of GBP - you showed our school values in abundance today and we could not be prouder!
