Year 4 at Plymouth Aquarium
Thu 25 Apr 2019Our day started out really wet at Stone farm, BUT we saw a double rainbow! After breakfast and farm duties, we travelled to The Plymouth Aquarium.
We started with a talk by the Education Team all about the aquarium and what we would see on our tour. Next, we had a tour around the aquarium and for many this was a real great awe and wonder moment as this was their first time seeing such creatures as sharks, turtles and jelly fish up close.

In the afternoon we were due to rock pool on the beach but unfortunately the Plymouth beaches were closed due to Health and Safety reasons. All of us were really sad that we didn't complete this part of our day. So we travelled back to Stone Farm and had time with the animals, time in the new straw maze and in the games room.

It all starts with a first note!!
Thu 25 Apr 2019It was lovely to see so many parents and children at yesterday's instrumental Have A Go session. The squeaks, bangs and notes were music to Mrs Irons' ears!
We are hoping that many of the children who attended were inspired to take up a musical instrument in the near future which brings me on to a reminder… please can children currently in years 1 - 5, send in their forms by THIS FRIDAY if you would like to start learning an instrument in September 2019.
Thank you Mrs Irons and her merry musical team for being there last night to support our visitors. It was such a successful after school event and we really do appreciate the support as this was of course, in their free time.

Our day at The Eden Project.
Wed 24 Apr 2019After our farm duties, we travelled about an hour in the coach and/or minibus to The Eden Project. We started the day by having a talk by one of the education team about how the Eden Project was designed, made and enjoyed by many visitors. We then had time to explore the brand new education centre which was great. There were so many things for us to do and see.
After lunch we had our workshop where we explored the main bio-dome which is the Rainforest one. It was so hot but amazing!
Our day ended with free-time with the animals before a falconry display. Wow what a day!!! We have packed in so much and even the sun shone this afternoon.

Tue 23 Apr 2019After a safe trip to Devon, Year 4 are thoroughly enjoying their first evening at Stone Farm.
So far our day has involved a stop over at Buckfast Abbey to explore the Abbey, have some time exploring the education centre and having a talk by one of the Monks.
Now at Stone Farm, we have met the lovely Stone Farm Team, found our luggage and our rooms, had a fire drill, had tea and we are now having some free time around the farm. What a busy day we have had!

Wow what great team work to create this wonderful learning area for our children!
Fri 19 Apr 2019A huge thank you to all of our super volunteers who gave up time to help Mr Quilter create our fabulously, refurbished pond area with decking area for pond dipping and hide for wildlife watching! There’s even an assault course for our resident squirrels to enjoy as well! It’s that good that Donald Mallard Duck and his lady Daisy Duck have decided to nest there this season too. This area will be enjoyed by so many of our children and a real haven for super science learning too! Our volunteers really have assisted in realising our school dream/vision of ensuring our children develop a love of the outdoors for a happier and healthier lifestyle. -

Year 6 Bikeability
Wed 03 Apr 2019Year 6 are having a great time on their Bikeability sessions this week. So far, they have worked hard to learn how to signal, how to perform a U-turn and how to safely exit a junction. The children have all been very sensible and especially enjoyed going out on the slightly busier roads today.

EYFS Mother's Day Concert
Fri 29 Mar 2019This afternoon Rowan and Birch classes held their annual Mother's Day Concert. Over the last couple of weeks the children have been busy learning songs and poems, as well as thinking about what makes our mum special. We made a list of all the different things that mums do and the children decided that it must be very tiring to be a mum. The children had also been doing some artwork of their mum, which they very proudly displayed during the concert. At the end of the concert the children made a mother's day present with their mum. Together they planted a bulb and decorated the plant pot. I am sure they will enjoy watching it grow over the next few weeks. Thank you to all of the mums for taking the time to come and share our special assembly.
