KS1 are 'Superstars'
Tue 06 Dec 2016Wow what another superb performance - this time led by our fantastic Year 1 and Year 2 children.
I was blown away by the wonderful singing - some of the songs were sung in three parts too. The brilliant acting was really impressive as there were so many lines to learn and you put huge amounts of expression into your voices too!!! Well done everyone - what an amazing effort.
I felt so many emotions throughout the play - I was very proud of you and I shed a happy tear or two as it is great seeing you all blossom and shine. You really have surpassed yourselves and reminded us of the real reason why Christians celebrate Christmas too - so a big thank you for that.
Thank you to all of the staff involved with organising such a huge event. Everyone in the Year 1 and 2 team work so hard with the children to make it as special as it can be. Your efforts do not go unappreciated.
Ok children you have one performance to go - so make sure it is as good as today's one. Parents and Grandparents who are coming to see it tomorrow, you are in for a real treat. It will leave you feeling incredibly happy and so proud of what the children have achieved.
I hope you enjoy the photos below and I will post some more tomorrow.

T'was the Night Before Christmas
Tue 06 Dec 2016A group of our children from EYFS through to year 6 went to the theatre on Sunday morning to see a magical performance of T'was the Night Before Christmas. The children and adults loved it and it was just so lovely to sit and watch the children enjoy it so much. For some of the children, they hadn't been to a theatre before so it was a lovely new experience for them.
I would like to thank the staff (Thank you Miss Hanafin, Miss Lemar and Miss Finnimore) who gave up their Sunday morning to supervise the children..... and a special thank you to Miss Finnimore who organised the whole event. She even brought the children some treats to have whilst they watched the performance - that was a lovely touch.
It was such a success that we will be organising another theatre visit for 2017. Our staff team have already said that they will be willing to go too. So watch this space!

Thank You Balfour Beatty
Sat 03 Dec 2016A huge thank you to our contractors Balfour Beatty for donating a beautiful Christmas tree for us to go in our school courtyard. It looks absolutely magical and we looked the part when we sang Christmas Carols by it on Friday evening before our Christmas Fair started.
A few of the site team came along to our Fair which was also hugely appreciated too. They spent lots to support our school minibus fund but some of the team were much luckier than others. Poor Jack dropped and broke one of his purchases where as Mrs Plumpton would have been happy with Mr Plumpton's winning Pimms!

Christmas Fair Success
Sat 03 Dec 2016A huge thank you to all of you who came to support our Christmas Fair last Friday evening. It was so busy and it was great seeing our children pulling their families around each of the stalls. I'm sure you will agree that despite being cramped because of our current building works, the Friends of Great Binfields managed to pop on a fabulous event for us all to enjoy. I really enjoyed the opening - our choir sang beautifully around our lovely Christmas tree. Thank you to Balfour Beatty, our contractors for donating this by the way, it was really nice of them to do so. There were so many lovely things to buy at the fair; some great new games to play; the raffle prizes were amazing and our newly adapted Santa experience really worked well too.
I have sent our FOGB members all thank you letters for their efforts but I would like to publically thank them for their continued support. It is not an easy task putting on an event that is so big in our yearly calendar. There is lots of prior planning, organising, advertising, canvassing, purchasing, persuading and last minute logistically problems to solve too. You have all done a grand job and we appreciate the fact that you all go above and beyond for our children.
We raised a phenomenal sum, exceeding last years' total... we still have a few expenses to clear but it will be around £2000 which is superb. I will let you know the final total when I find out.

EYFS Nativity - More lovely photos for you
Thu 01 Dec 2016As promised here are some more photos of your super stars. They did another tremendously good performance again today. One of our governors, Maggie Chiverton came to watch the play and this is what she said:
'It was my great joy to attend the Year R performance of A Miracle in Town this morning. I definitely consider this to be the best perk available for carrying out the role of a governor at Great Binfields. It was a beautiful retelling of the Nativity story with very accomplished performances by the actors and lovely songs sung by the whole cast of angels, stars, shepherds, Kings, camels, villagers, Mary and Joseph, not forgetting the stable animals and the donkey. A huge thank you must go to the whole Year R team for the amount of work put in and to the children for their great performance. Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas. So well done to our fabulous children. Thanks to you all, the Christmas season has officially started!
