  • Silver Medal Winners!

Thu 07 May 2015 Miss Grainger
On Tuesday a group of eight year 5/6 children, 4 boys and 4 girls, represented Great Binfields in 'The Quad Kids Athletics Competition' at The Vyne School. Each child had to compete in four individual events; standing long jump, the howler throw, a 75m sprint and a 600m run. They scored points according to their times and distances. The athletes battled hard against the windy weather conditions to compete against seven other schools. Their points were then added together as a team. All the children performed brilliantly. A massive well done to Hugh for throwing the second furthest in the whole competition and for winning his heat (33.10m), Isla for running the 600m in 2 minutes 19 seconds, winning her heat and coming second overall, and Jett who actually jumped the furthest in the whole competition (1.91m) for the boys! After coming second in the relay, our points were then added together to an amazing total of 1243 to claim a silver medal. I am incredibly proud of all the children who worked so hard as a team and represented the school perfectly.
  • Digital Dudes Mascot Winner!

Fri 01 May 2015 Mrs Hill
A massive congratulations to Sarah from Willow class today for winning the Digital Dudes mascot competition. Thank you to all those who entered, there were lots of really good entries which made it very hard to decide who to choose. Well done to Jasmine in Pine class and Orla in Beech who were runners up as well.
  • KS1 plays golf

Fri 01 May 2015 Mrs Barnhouse
On Thursday Key Stage 1 began their golf sessions for the term. Dave from Just Golf, who is also a parent of a Year R child, is taking the sessions. It is fantastic that parents can join in within school life and offer their services where they can. Key Stage 1 had great fun practising their golf skills, earning points the further ball went. These sessions are part of providing varied sporting experiences for all children at Great Binfields.
  • Pirate Adventure

Thu 30 Apr 2015 Miss Khan

On Thursday 30th April Early Years was invaded by pirates!  We have been having clues left for us from Captain One Leg and today we even received a video message from him!  All the children were asked to complete six pirate tests in order to graduate and become fully fledge pirates.  Captain One Leg was very impressed with all of our pirates in training, and even invited them to become part of his crew on the Creaky Adventurer.

    The six tests were:

    • Finding treasure and coins in the sand pit.
    • Working out the secret code message that Captain One Leg had left for them.
    • Helping Captain One Leg to get his treasure across an obstacle course.
    • Making a pirate biscuit head.
    • Hunting for pictures that Captain One Leg had hidden in the woods
    • Making their own pet parrot.

At the end of the day all the pirates were treated to treasure left by Captain One Leg which was very yummy!  We celebrated their successful day with a pirate party and certificate presentation.

  • What a lot of Drama!

Tue 28 Apr 2015 Mrs Barnhouse
Today the drama company Perform visited KS1 and Early Years; the children joined the circus! It was a great morning as each class had a 30 minute session where they had to pretend they were part of the circus. Children had to use their imaginations to become clowns, jugglers, acrobats and many more fantastic things you might see at the circus. Next a very grumpy lion visited so the children had to become funny clowns in order to persuade him to come back and join the circus. It was great to see and hear children's imaginations come to life as the children do not use props, only the ideas that are in their heads! Have a look at the photos to see what they got up to!

  • 'Ash' Parents Evening - Urgent News

Mon 30 Mar 2015 Miss Rogers

Unfortunately Mrs Hill is off ill today and therefore will be unable to conduct her parent teacher consultations this evening.  As a result I am having to postpone these meetings until Wednesday 22 April, which is the first week back after the Easter holidays.  I understand that this is very short notice but I only found out that she wouldn’t be in today very late yesterday evening.  I hope you accept our sincere apologies and that you can make the new date.

I am anticipating that you will keep to the same appointment time on the new date.   We will post a new sheet on Ash’s window so that you can remind yourselves of your appointment time.  If this causes a problem please of course come and see us and we will try to arrange another mutually convenient time.

Once again, I am very sorry as I realise many of you will have taken time off work to try to meet this appointment.

    Kind regards
