  • Stone Farm Day 2 Eden Project

    Wed 08 Sep 2021

Although it has been raining at times today here in Devon, we have had the most amazing day at the Eden Project. At the Eden project, we had a workshop called 'Rainforest Detectives'. Here we had to find different ways to survive in the rainforest, by discovering aspects of the Biodomes. We had three categories - shelter, food and medicine/health.

We did achieve the highest point of the Biodome too and enjoyed trekking across the wobbly bridge at the top, which gave us a great view of the leafy canopy below.

Once back in our Eden classroom, the children had to present their findings. The knowledge they gained today will definitely come in handy for their Walk on the Wild Side topic later on in Year 5.

Once back on the farm, the children had some free time before dinner followed by a fantastic falconry display.

  • Stone Farm Day 2 Farm Duties

    Wed 08 Sep 2021

The children managed to get out to do their farm duties this morning just before the rain started. They have loved holding, feeding and taking care of the animals. Take a look at the photos to see the budding young farmers in action!

  • Day 1 at Stone Farm

Tue 07 Sep 2021 Miss Lyddon

We had a great trip down - no traffic and super quick to Buckfast Abbey. We met Alison at Buckfast Abbey (our guide) and she took us through to the Monks Mindfulness Garden. Using our senses, we explored the gardens, created rainbow cards using shades of green, used our observation skills to find hidden objects and find things using different adjectives. Our next stop was to the Abbey, which was amazing.

Then onto Stone Farm; where we found our rooms, made ourselves at home and then had a farm tour. All very exciting!! Tea was next - we were ready for our tea...well Miss Lyddon was!

The children had their first taste of farm duties with super 'cooperation and team work' through their tasks.  Then ready for bed! Good night from Year 5 and the Stone Farm team.

  • Not long now before we see our children again…

Mon 30 Aug 2021 Ms Rogers

Please let our Year 1-6 children know that we are looking forward to seeing them bright-eyed and bushy-tailed on Monday 6th September. Our year group teams have lots of exciting start of the year activities for the children. So please feel free to say I’m expecting early nights from now on so they are ready for learning next week.
Our school is looking fabulous as our site team have been working hard over the

holiday break… our key stage 2 children will notice that their classrooms have all been painted and we have new carpet throughout too. This week the site team are prioritising their efforts on the school grounds as we hope our children will have lots of outside learning opportunities if the weather stays kind!
See you in a week today!

  • Staying Safe Online

Tue 24 Aug 2021 Ms Rogers

Sky Kids FYI presenter Braydon gives us a few tips on how to stay safe online, and internet expert Ghislaine Bombusa explains what we should avoid doing, and why this is the case. It really is useful.

  • Falconry Display

Wed 21 Jul 2021 Miss Lyddon

This evening, we all went into one of Mr Hatton's barns for a falconry display. It was great fun seeing the birds of prey fly around the barn, swooping down for the food and sit on the high ledges watching us, watching them. Wow... another memory maker for the children!

  • Day Three - Plymouth aquarium and rock pooling

Wed 21 Jul 2021 Miss Lyddon

Another hot and sunny day here in Devon. Farm duties were completed before breakfast and then we got onto the coach and minibus to travel to Plymouth. The journey was about an hour long.

Our first stop, when we arrived in Plymouth, was to go to Mount Batten Beach. Here we met our two Education Guides from the aquarium. They set us up with rock pooling equipment and identification cards. We had a great time finding small crabs, baby star fish, shrimps and even a dead jelly fish.

Due to it being so hot on the beach, we headed off to the aquarium for lunch before our aquarium tour. We started with a talk about the aquarium by the Education Team and then we had a tour around the aquarium. For many this was a real great awe and wonder moment as this was their first time seeing such creatures as sharks, turtles and jelly fish up close. They even spotted Nemo and Dorey!

Here is the website if you would like to investigate more. https://www.national-aquarium.co.uk/

Back at Stone Farm, it was farm duties again before tea. The children are having their falconry display whilst I update the website for you.

  • Binfields Got Talent 2021

Tue 20 Jul 2021 Ms Rogers

Yesterday our Binfields Got Talent finalists performed to the rest of the school via Teams! They did so well and the children across the school loved it too. You could hear the cheers from outside of school! The children have voted and the winner of 2021 will be announced in our Achievement assembly tomorrow.

Thank you to our marvellous hosts impersonating Ant and Dec - you did an amazing job and should consider compering in the future!

You all made me smile on a hot and sticky Tuesday afternoon.
