Totally Tennis was totally great!
Wed 14 Jun 2017On Tuesday this week every class had the opportunity to have a tennis taster session led by Totally Tennis. The children really enjoyed the half hour sessions where they learnt new skills. Every child received a certificate for taking part and a leaflet inviting them to some more free sessions this Saturday and Sunday in conjunction with the Tennis Foundation Roadshow. Why not pop along and learn something new in a fun, friendly way! (If only I was a bit younger I know I would certainly be interested!)
For more information have a look at their website: http://www.totallytennis.co.uk/news-and-dates.
Here's just a quick snapshot of what the children got up to.

Music Makers with some of our new EYFS Children who start in September
Tue 13 Jun 2017Today Mrs Irons, our Music Lead Teacher in school, led a smashing music session for a group of children who will be starting with us in September. The children started off very shy but they soon participated really well. Lots of singing as well as composition using a range of exciting instruments. I hope the children are looking forward to their next session which is going to be held on Tuesday. -

Bikeability Day 3
Wed 07 Jun 2017The Year 6 children were able to make the most of the dry weather today and ventured out onto the road to practise their road safety skills. Particular manoeuvres included making a U-turn in the road, how to make a safe start and stop and cycling past a stationary car. The children were very well behaved in our local community and the instructors were really impressed. Having looked at the weather forecast for tomorrow, I think we may have another downpour so remember to wear your waterproofs and to wrap up warm! -
Bikeability Day 2
Tue 06 Jun 2017Despite the horrendous weather, Year 6 still managed to get out on their bikes for their second day of Bikeability. Today's focus was cycling with control. This involved a 'slow race' where Kiera and Joe were crowned the champions. As well as this, the children particularly enjoyed playing a game called 'Minefield' where they had to ride through a large group of cones without hitting any of them. We are hoping for better weather for tomorrow's session!

Mon 05 Jun 2017Today the year 6 children completed their first day of Bikeability. They learned how to check their bike and clothing, complete a safe start and stop and also signal left and right. They are looking forward to going out on the roads tomorrow!
Lots of of children did not have coats with them today and got a bit wet. Please can you make sure they have a waterproof coat with them tomorrow as we will be going out whatever the weather!

A Wonderful Art Festival Exhibition
Fri 26 May 2017Thank you to all of you who attended our annual Art Festival Exhibition today. We feel that it was very well attended and felt extremely busy for the majority of the afternoon to which we are delighted. I am sure you will agree that the quality of art, music and dance was particularly impressive this year. I certainly had a few tears during the flash mob and I know a few parents did too! I was so, so proud of you all and your art work looked amazing. I can not wait to see the pictures that Mrs Holt took. She is in the process of editing them. Mr Maxwell is also editing the video he took of the flash mob itself. We will pop the finalised versions on our website as soon as we get them.
Please do fill in your art surveys at it will help us to improve and evaluate what you think of these kind of curriculum weeks for the future.
A huge thank you to our children for the effort they put into this week - you were all phenomenal and I hope you are all proud of your efforts. A big thank you to our staff team for getting into the spirit as usual - you are all stars!

Art Festival Day 4 Discussion
Fri 26 May 2017Another great day has been had and the quality of art is phenomenal.
So things to discuss at tea today: Is the sea always blue and the beach always yellow? Have a discussion with your family. Perhaps look at one of your seaside photographs at home. How would an artist go about depicting it? What would you expect to find at the seaside and what do you like doing when you go to the seaside as a family?
Who are you bringing along to the art exhibition tomorrow? Don’t forget to bring a camera so that you can snap away – your children/grandchildren will be proud of what they have achieved. Let's meet 3.10pm in the new courtyard.

Woo hoo - A silver trophy for Year 5/6 Rugby tournament has come home!
Wed 24 May 2017I am absolutely delighted to announce that our Year 5/6 children who have now been training with Miss Grainger and Mr Wood for 3 years have just come home with a silver trophy. They were up against 35 other teams who entered at Overton Rugby Club yesterday. Our wonderful team won all of their group games and went into the quarters confidently. The new two games were tough but the kids were certainly determined. Their last game the final was close and the children did remarkably well. Unfortunately they could not quite do it, so a magnificent silver it was. We are so, so proud of you all.
Congratulations to Oakley Junior who received the gold also.
Mr Wood was nearly in tears because he was so happy - that Italian side showing through and Miss Grainger was obviously incredibly proud also.
Our trophy will sit proudly next to our Year 3/4 silver one on our new trophy tree which is being installed next week during the half term holidays.
