Year 6 Graduation
Mon 11 Jun 2018Year 6 had a fantastic day at Winchester University yesterday for their Junior Graduation. They began the day with a tour of the campus, a game of sitting volleyball and a quiz. This was followed by a delicious lunch and then the graduation ceremony itself. Several members of the university staff commented on how well behaved our children were, so they should be very proud of themselves. Congratulations Year 6! -
Year 6 Bunnies!
Fri 08 Jun 2018After writing a fantastic set of persuasive letters to Miss Rogers, Year 6 have two new additions to their outdoor common room area - two very cute rabbits called Bluebell and Buttercup!
The rabbits have settled in really well and have enjoyed their first day at Great Binfields! Bluebell and Buttercup come from Sparsholt Agricultural College, where Mrs Osborne's friend Gemma works. In a few week's time, Gemma will be coming in to visit the Year 5 and 6 children to check how the rabbits are and to deliver a talk all about looking after them.
Here are some quotes from a few of the year 6 children:
"The bunnies are absolutely adorable and the fact I was the first boy to hold one filled me with pride!" Xander
"It is the best experience of my life! I think Bluebell loves me already!" Lewis
"They are as soft as a marshmallow cloud!" Sophie
"I think I will be good at looking after these bunnies as I already have one at home." Millie
Take a look at these photos to see the rabbits being handled...

Art Festival Day 1
Tue 22 May 2018Well, the first Day of our Art Festival Week has been amazing and the children did incredibly well with the art challenges they were set! The school is already awash with bright colours - we are loving it! We have had carnival float craft making, air dough tile creating, tie-dying, abstract art imaging, string painting, mandala creating using acrylics, blow painting, chalk and collage drawings, chalk creations to name but a few!
Has/have your child/ren studied the art of Steve Beveridge yet? Don’t forget to stick it on the large piece of paper that’s on the table in the court yard so we can make one large school picture!
The children have also listened to various pieces of carnival music whilst working hard on their creations. We are certainly getting into the spirit of celebration. With the way things are going - you are in for a treat on Friday! Don't forget to meet us in the courtyard at 3.10pm as the children have something special to share with you. Mr Quilter will be assisting you with where to stand. -

Year One Secret Garden Day
Thu 17 May 2018Once again, Year One is coming to the end of another brilliant topic - The Secret Garden. This topic has given us the chance to really use our imaginations to create unique and special versions of our own secret gardens and Narnia-style lands. We have spent a lot of time outside enjoying our school grounds and to celebrate the end of this topic, we had a Secret Garden Day. In the morning the children rotated around 5 activities; flower making, plant pot designing, biscuit flower decorating, secret post card writing and garden windmill decoration making. The children had lots of challenges to face in these activities and had so much fun completing them. Then in the afternoon, after sharing their fantastic royal wedding themed projects, the children had two more activities. One was a secret garden page where they opened the doors and created beautiful designs with labels about what they would see in their garden. The second activity was a treasure hunt in the woodland - with the prize being extra play on the adventure playground.
The children really impressed us with their creative and engaged attitude to their learning. What a wonderful day! Have a look at the photos to see what we got up to.
