Our falconry display at Stone Farm
Wed 18 Apr 2018On Wednesday evening, we all went into one of Mr Hatton's barns for a falconry display. It was great fun seeing the birds of prey, and owls, fly around the barn, swoop down for the food and sit on the high ledges watching us, watching them. Wow! another memory maker for the children. -
Our day at The Eden Project
Wed 18 Apr 2018WOW!!! What an amazing day. Our day started by exploring the outside of the Biodomes in the grounds of the Eden Project. We spotted some interesting sculptures amongst the plants, flowers and trees. There were even three cows on the roof! After lunch we had a workshop called 'Puzzling Plants'. Here, we were plant detectives finding the different plants in the Rainforest Biodome (The biggest one). It was great fun and VERY HOT! At the top of the Biodome, we found a wobbly bridge and a bridge with a cloud maker on it. It was great fun. We pretended that we were in the jungle.
Back at Stone Farm, we had free time with the animals before tea.
Tonight we are having a falconry talk and display by one of Mr Hatton's friends. We will keep you updated with our adventures.
(I am having trouble up loading pictures tonight - will try again in the morning. Good night)

Some of our children visit Southampton Art Gallery
Wed 28 Mar 2018Our children really enjoyed their art gallery experience today. They not only produced a superb wire sculpture which are all now displayed in our library at school but they saw some beautiful art within the gallery itself. A huge thank you to the Education Team for making our day so special. The children really appreciated the different styles of art and the mediums used. Together we all looked deeply into some of the many beautiful paintings... which gave us lots of historical clues about the time period. We hope there will be lots of discussion tonight and that your children will eagerly share their special day with you.It goes without saying, all of our kids made Miss Lemar and myself very proud. They were courteous, calm, interested, enthusiastic and very respectful throughout. Thank you to Miss Lemar who helped me enormously by organising the trip this year - you did a grand job.Check out the photos below that were taken throughout the day. Some are of the children practicing their new found skills and others are of them appreciating art. Please do come into school to see the children's wire creations as they are so good. The children will be teaching the wire sculpting skills they learned with the rest of the children in their classes during our next Art Festival week. We can't wait. -
Year 4 trip to Christchurch
Wed 28 Mar 2018Yesterday, a mixture of children from year 4 had a great time at Christchurch , learning more about the Easter story and taking part in some fun activities. Each group spoke about the symbol of the cross and reminded each other about why we celebrate Easter, we learnt about why the Friday of Easter weekend is called Good Friday and then we were able to place our own crosses made of twigs onto the Easter garden. We also made Easter Basing stones which we were able to take home with us, so look out for some more around! Everyone took part in a quiz about Christchurch as well. It was such a lovely afternoon and it was great to hear the children sharing their knowledge about Easter and the Christian faith too. -
