  • French and Spanish tuition for Year R available

Mon 31 Oct 2016 Miss Rogers
We are now able to offer French and Spanish tuition to our Year R pupils.
These sessions are run by external teachers in school during lunchtime 12.30 - 1.00 pm.  Each session is £3 per week payable termly.
If you feel this is something your child would be interested in, please contact the Admin Office.
Please note, it will be your child's responsibility to remember to attend their session after they have had their lunch, unfortunately the tutor will not have the time to collect the children as she has another lesson with the KS2 children from 12.00 to 12.30 pm.
There will be a limit on the amount of children who will be able to attend the sessions, so if we have a high demand, we will have to consider children on a first come first served basis.
  • Forest School with Linguatastic

Fri 21 Oct 2016 Miss Lyddon

Linguatastic's Spanish pre-schoolers had a Forest School session at Great Binfields Primary School this morning. Miss Lyddon ran the session with adult helpers from Linguatastic. (Thank you from Miss Lyddon for your help and support) The pre-schoolers had great fun in our woodland areas exploring the woods, creating clay models, drawing with chalk, making  nature crowns or pictures and they even took their  "log dogs" for a walk!

  • En Guard!

Fri 21 Oct 2016 Mrs Shapland

The French warning to “be aware” should have prepared us for the transformation which overtook Pine class recently as they enjoyed an introduction to the sport of fencing. Over three sessions the children learned the basics of fencing etiquette and movement – but oh so much more! What a delight to see the many facets of learning unfold during the final lesson. We witnessed improved concentration and co-ordination, greater spatial awareness, and numerous unsolicited offers of assistance to help others to put on their tabard and helmet. It is no exaggeration to say that the adults present that morning including NAME the tutor, glowed with pride. Well done Pine Class, what a memorable experience.

  • Halloween Parties and Discos

Thu 20 Oct 2016 Miss Rogers

The children had a great time this evening, strutting their stuff. Their costumes looked brilliant and it was lovely seeing them socialising with their friends.

I'm sure you would like to join me in thanking our wonderful FOGB volunteers for their support - as without them, we wouldn't be able to run these fun events and raise funds for exciting whole school projects.

  • Anne Wan's Visit

Tue 18 Oct 2016 Mrs Osborne

Today, the children in Key Stage One and Key Stage Two enjoyed a visit from children's author Anne Wan.

Anne talked to them about the process of writing a book and the importance of editing. She also explained how it is really improtant to never give up on ideas.

The children loved listening to Anne reading the first chapter of her book 'Secrets of the Snow Globe.'

Take a look at the photos of her visit...

  • Y4 Fencing Opportunities

Thu 13 Oct 2016 Miss Rogers

Our Year 4s have been really enjoying a new experience we have booked for them for this half term which is Fencing. The children have already learned so much in a short space of time and their coach has been really proud of them.  At GBP we aim to provide each year group with an exciting range of sports so that the children enjoy being active. The children certainly worked up a sweat after their session today.

This sport offers our children the chance to develop their skills in a safe and enjoyable environment. The coach delivers structured classes that offer a mixture of games, balance and mobility exercises and blade skills to help children understand the sport and improve their balance, co-ordination, speed and timing. It is hoped that through developing these skills the children will also develop their confidence and self-discipline.

  • Scooter Training for Early Years

Thu 13 Oct 2016 Miss Khan
Today Holly and Maple classes took part in some scooter training.  Before starting we made sure that everyone was being safe and had their helmets on.  The children were then split into two groups sent off to do different activities.  Throughout the morning the children were taken out to the road and taught the best way to stay safe when crossing the road and how to pass people without hurting them.  On the playground we played different games, thinking about how to control our scooters.  We also had a go at gliding on our scooters and developing our balance.  The sessions were lots of fun and we were all really impressed by the children's skills on their scooters.
  • Year 3 First aid day

    Thu 13 Oct 2016
Last week in Year 3 we were lucky enough to have a first aid day. Hazel and Hawthorn Class received their training in small groups and learnt important life skills. The session focussed on: finding somebody who had had an accident, the recovery position, using a bandage and a sling and how to stop a nosebleed. Have a look through our photos to see what we got up to.
  • Come and do some welly planting at GBP!

Wed 05 Oct 2016 Miss Rogers

On Friday 14th October, Great Binfields will be Welly Planting. The aim is for the school to be full of colour; now and in the Spring. We will be planting winter flowers on top of last years bulbs.

If you are able to donate any Autumn/Winter flowering plants that we could use that would be great. All donations will be gratefully received. Please could you drop off any plants to the bark area on the morning of Friday 14th October.

Additionally, if you are able to volunteer some time in the afternoon of this date, please could you give your details to the school office. Your details will then be passed onto Miss Lyddon who is leading this project with her Outdoor Grounds hat on!

    Thank you very much.
