  • EYFS Admissions Information for September 2020

Tue 14 Apr 2020 Ms Rogers

On the 16th April, our local community of families with EYFS children will be finding out which school their child will be attending in September 2020.

This is a happy time for some families if they have secured a school place for their child in the school they wished for. However, it is a rather sad time for others - if families have not been successful in getting into the school they had applied and hoped for their child.

I ask that our school community is mindful of this when we are on social media over the coming days and weeks.

Great Binfields Primary School has to, like all other schools in England, follow a strict Admissions Policy that we adopt from our Local Authorities - in our case, Hampshire Local Authority. We have a set pan number - which means 60 children can enter each year group.

If your family has been unsuccessful in securing your first choice place for your child at our school, Hampshire Local Authority will offer you either your second or third choice school. If you wish to appeal Hampshire's decision, they will signpost you to the Appeals Process which can be found on the Hampshire Admissions Website. You can of course, go on our school's waiting list - details will be given to you when you are notified on the 16th April.

If you have been successful in securing a school place for your child at our school then please follow the link below:

    https://www.greatbinfields.co.uk/admissions-and-starting-at-our-school/

We will be contacting you soon with further information about future transition activities as well as give you a wealth of information about our school. We look forward to warmly welcoming your child into our friendly school community.

  • Talking to children and young people about coronavirus (Covid-19)

Mon 06 Apr 2020 Mrs Barnhouse

During these unusual times children, young people (and adults too!) may have questions about what is happening and some children may be feeling more concerned and anxious. This is reasonable, as it is probable that children have never experienced something like this before and do not have the experience to know what may happen. Following on from some information in the recent newsletter, this document is here to support you in discussing these concerns with children and young people, using resources relevant to specific age groups and needs. Remember, we are all in this together.

  • Update on Easter Home Education Activities

Thu 02 Apr 2020 Ms Rogers

Our next two weeks of Spring/Easter learning/activities that our staff teams have planned are designed to be fun and keep our children occupied throughout the Easter period as this 'holiday' will feel very different for most as annual leaves have been cancelled for many, nobody of course can go and explore if they are off and our children will be limited in what they can do...so I hope you and your family enjoy what has been compiled. I would like to add that none of the activities set are compulsory - you do not need to insist that your children do all of the tasks outlined. They are suggestions! We hope now we are planning topics for the whole family - this will be much more manageable for families with children in different year groups.

Just encourage your to do their children best.. and we know that you are trying your best by your family too. Reducing stress and improving your well-being is important - so take things in your stride.

  • Well-being Calendar - Action for Happiness

Wed 01 Apr 2020 Ms Rogers

We are enjoying the resources on the Action for Happiness website during this challenging time. Have a look here - Action for Happiness. Click the link for an enlarged version of the calendar

As today it is April 1st, have a look at the April Calendar from the website. April's calendar focuses on coping strategies and, we don't know about you, but we all need some different strategies to help us manage the challenge of being so restricted!

The activity for today - 1st April - is definitely a good one to do right now given that seeing people for 'real' is so restricted. We'll make a list of all the people we plan to have FaceTime and Zoom calls with and begin to arrange when these will take place - keeping in touch with our friends and family is so important during times of (personal, local, national or worldwide) crisis and challenge. Who will be on your list?
