Tue 23 Jul 2019 Ms Rogers

Buttercup and Bluebell, our school rabbits have gone on their holidays too this summer.

They are keeping Miss O’Hagan company and look they have made a new friend already!!

Thank you Miss O’Hagan, I hope they are both good for you.

I know our old Year 6 children were sad when they said goodbye this afternoon but I know our new Year 6 children will look after them really well next year.

  • Binfields' Got Talent

Mon 22 Jul 2019 Mrs Holdsworth

Well the whole school was absolutely blown away by the BGT final on Friday - our wonderfully talented pupils certainly proved that they have got talent - and an abundance of it at that! From our Ant & Dec wannabe hosts to our fantastic Year Six judges and of course the actual acts themselves. WOW! A massive well done to everyone who auditioned and our finalists. You were fantastic and should be very proud of yourselves.

A huge well done to the winners who were announced today:

1st place - Thomas on the drums

    2nd place - Y6 girls' dancers

    3rd place - Lily-Grace's gymnastics

What a wonderful way to round off the school year.

Thu 18 Jul 2019 Ms Rogers
Today our Year 2 children shared their memories of EYFS and KS1 as well as their future aspirations with their parents and grandparents. It was such a lovely occasion and there were lots of happy tears from the audience. Thank you Year 2 for sharing this with us and for your beautiful, angelic singing - we all thoroughly enjoyed being part of your celebration.
  • What a Magnificent Production of Aladdin!!

Wed 17 Jul 2019 Ms Rogers and Mrs Worgan, Governor
I was blown away by this year's magnificent performance.
Over the years I’ve seen many productions and each time I think it could not be bettered, but tonight’s performance was amongst the best.  The children were all so confident and obviously really enjoyed playing their parts.  They projected their voices like professionals and everyone put their heart and soul into the singing.  You certainly have several talented actors!

We all know how much work goes into these performances and everyone involved should be congratulated on an incredible end to a rollercoaster of a year.

  • What an amazing Summer Fair!!

Sun 14 Jul 2019 Ms Rogers

I can not quite believe how busy it was first of all. It was absolutely incredible... and wow what a success it was! This year’s theme: ‘Circus’ was a real hit and it was great to see so many of you really enjoying yourselves.

Thank you to all of you for coming on what was a brilliant Summer’s Evening - the atmosphere and the weather could not have been better! Your support is hugely appreciated.

A magnificent well done to our fab volunteers, super staff and the brilliant FOGB Fair Committee - you should be so proud! The activities and stalls were brilliant and busy all night. I would like to express a very special thank you and that goes to H, as she was a top organiser and worked tirelessly on this project.

We will let you know how much we raised shortly. All profit comes back into school to provide our children with fabulous learning resources and experiences.

  • KS1 Quad Kids Athletics

Wed 10 Jul 2019 Miss Lyddon
Well done to ten of our year 1 and 2 children who took part in the Quad Kids Athletics event at  The Winklebury Schools this afternoon. The children all took part in four different activities - 50 m sprint, 300m race, the howler throw and standing long jump. All of the children tried their VERY best, demonstrated great team spirit in all events and were great ambassadors for GBP. Thank you from Miss Lyddon and Mr Quilter.
  • Rock and Pop Concert

    Wed 03 Jul 2019
This afternoon the children of Great Binfields were treated to a wonderful musical concert as Rob, from The Rock and Pop foundation, showed off the talents of his pupils during our weekly music assembly. Here are some photos to show you just how fantastic the children who played their instruments were. The audience were in awe of their skills and many children left the hall feeling inspired to learn to play an instrument themselves. A big well done to all of those children who performed and thank you to the parents who came along to support their children.

  • Year 5 and 6 Viking and Saxon Day

    Tue 02 Jul 2019

Year 5 and 6 have had another fun packed day as part of their Viking and Saxon topic. The children outdid themselves with their costumes for the day and really looked the part during our Viking and Saxon battle. We started the day by generating our Viking names and writing them in runes - i'm sure the children will be excited to share which clans they belong to. They then explored how skilled the Anglo Saxon's were at making jewellery, in particular brooches. The children designed and made their own brooches ready to wear for the big battle in the afternoon.

The children also had the opportunity to explore the revolutionary longboat and used their observational skills to sketch a longboat, focusing on perspective, tone and form. Year 5 and 6 also helped Mr Wood make a yummy stew in the forest, to ensure they were full of energy for the battle ahead. Fully charged after our food, the children's battle cries could be heard across the playground as we marched to the field for the epic battle between Beech Clan, Chestnut Clan and Maple Clan. Mrs Osborne, Miss James and Miss Hunt were early casualties.

A fantastic day all around. Have a look at the pictures for a snapshot of the day!
