  • GBP Choir please local old folk

Thu 19 Dec 2019 Ms Rogers
Our school choir made many old folk happy this evening as they sang so beautifully at Oakfields Residential home in Lychpit. Thank you to all of you for trying so hard and for giving up some of your free time after school. Thanks also to Miss Khan for organising the event and Miss Lyddon for joining us.
  • The Snow Queen Pantomime Production Comes to GBP

Thu 19 Dec 2019 Ms Rogers

We all loved this morning's performance - a huge thank you to Treehouse Theatre for a wonderful experience and for involving some of our children with the acting too. This has been the best show we have had by far in a long time! You and your team did a sterling job of making it magical for our children.

Thank you also to FOGB for funding this event - our children's faces said it all! They loved it as did the adults watching too!

  • Love of The True Meaning Behind Christmas Day

Wed 18 Dec 2019 Ms Rogers
Across our whole school today, children are deepening their understanding of the different aspects of the Christmas story. Each year group has had a different focus and it has been lovely to see the children ask some really interesting questions and their level of discussion/interest has been particularly pleasing. Lots of children were saying 'Imagine if ....', 'What would happen though..?' which shows that our children are developing enquiring minds.
  • Christmas Dinner Fun!

Wed 18 Dec 2019 Ms Rogers

The children enjoyed tucking into their Christmas lunches that our staff served to them yesterday. Cheesy Christmas music was played and the children looked fabulous in their recently made Christmas hats.  Thank you to the catering team for cooking a lovely meal as the children really enjoyed it. Most children cleared their plates so this bodes well for our children eating all of their special roast dinner on Christmas day too!

  • Year 3 have been creating Punch and Judy Shows

Tue 17 Dec 2019 Ms Rogers
Well done to Year 3 have they have worked so hard on creating Punch and Judy puppets, theatres and playscripts which has been part of their Victorians topic. This week they are sharing their stories/plays with another Year group using the theatres and puppets too. I bet your audiences will be impressed. Super work everyone - we are proud of you - they certainly look fabulous!
  • Christmas Service at Christchurch

Mon 16 Dec 2019 Ms Rogers

I was also proud of our entire school during last week’s Christchurch assemblies. Not only did the children listen intently within a place of worship, but they also sang beautifully too! Thank you to our volunteers who assisted with walking the children there and a big thank you to Mrs Lowe for leading a wonderful service.

  • Year 3 Ukelele Concert

Fri 13 Dec 2019 Ms Rogers
Our Year 3s showcased their term's music learning with a real life audience this week and it was a real pleasure hearing them all play together. The children had surpassed Mrs Vaughan's expectations both from a playing perspective but also from the theory side of musical understanding too. The children were rightly proud of their achievements and our audience got to have a go as well.
  • Year 3 William Morris Printing

Thu 12 Dec 2019 Ms Rogers

I have been mightily impressed with our Year 3's William Morris style printing. As part of their Victorian topic they've been looking into the work of William Morris and found out a lot about him and his legacy. The children have copied aspects of his themes to create their own poly block printing pieces. As you can see from the pictures below, they worked hard to create them.

  • Yr 6 Bikeablity

Thu 12 Dec 2019 Miss Hunt and Kian Lawrence

Year 6 are having a great time on their Bikeability sessions this week. So far, they have worked hard to learn how to signal, how to perform a U-turn and how to safely exit a junction. The children have all been very sensible and especially enjoyed going out on the slightly busier roads. They have one more day to gain their cycling proficiency level 2, so fingers crossed they will apply all of the skills that they have learnt so far this week.

Everyone has shown excellent perseverance and has surprised themselves with how confident they really are!

Here are a few quotes from the children themselves:

“Bikeability is really fun but is tough in the rain and wind.”  Anna B

“It is really fun and exciting! I have learnt a lot about road safety!”  Ethyn A

“It is a lot of fun learning new things about bikes and road safety.” Evelyn B

“Bikeability has taught me new things on how to keep safe on the road. Thank you for that Bikeablity.” Emily S

Everyone has had a great week!

  • Working hard at GBP

Wed 11 Dec 2019 Ms Rogers

It is always lovely seeing our children really involved in their learning - this walk around school during session time showed great levels of engagement.

Well done everyone, very proud of you all.
