  • Our last day in Devon

Fri 26 Apr 2019 Miss Lyddon

After packing our cases/bags and making sure we had our wellies and sleeping bags, we were ready for our last breakfast at Stone Farm which was ......PANCAKES! Yum, yum!

It was a very wet morning in Devon, so we were unable to do our last farm duties and have our last free time before heading home cool.

Once the coach was packed with our belongings, it was time to leave Stone Farm. A great big thank you to the Stone Farm Team for allowing Year 4 to stay at the farm and for their super hospitality

On our way home, we stopped at Lyford Gorge for our last adventure before travelling back to Basingstoke. Here there is a water fall called 'The White Lady' and the walk down to the river is very beautiful and picturesque.

This week it has been lovely watching the children interact with each other, grow in confidence, show great care and compassion to all of the animals, and most of all smiling from ear to ear.

Thank you Year 4 for a great, fun packed week.

  • KS1 Football Festival Success

    Fri 26 Apr 2019 Miss O'Hagan

We are all beaming with pride at the Key Stage 1 children who represented Great Binfields today at the Football Festival. With the wind and rain to contend with too, our team of ten determined footballers shone in their team work, commitment and decision making skills throughout the six games that they played. Drawing the first match 0-0, the rest of the games were won with a significant lead! A personal highlight was seeing the children shine as true sportsmen and women. Demonstrating our key school values, in one of the games (where we quickly began winning 5-0) team GBPS decided to give the other team more chances by letting them have every centre pass instead of taking it in turns. This was child initiated and helped the game be much more enjoyable for both teams. For our year 1s, it was their first time at a Football Festival and it was great to see their confidence grow. It was also lovely to see the year 2s supporting them with true team spirit! A very BIG well done to all who took part, this is a fantastic achievement and you should all be very proud of yourselves. Thank you to those parents and grandparents who attended and supported their children, it was lovely to see the pride in your faces too! Thanks to Phil Jeffs for organising this event. Miss Rendall, Miss Rogers  and I thoroughly enjoyed being there to support them.

  • Year 4 at Plymouth Aquarium

    Thu 25 Apr 2019

Our day started out really wet at Stone farm, BUT we saw a double rainbow! After breakfast and farm duties, we travelled to The Plymouth Aquarium.

We started with a talk by the Education Team all about the aquarium and what we would see on our tour. Next, we had a tour around the aquarium and for many this was a real great awe and wonder moment as this was their first time seeing such creatures as sharks, turtles and jelly fish up close.

In the afternoon we were due to rock pool on the beach but unfortunately the Plymouth beaches were closed due to Health and Safety reasons. All of us were really sad that we didn't complete this part of our day. So we travelled back to Stone Farm and had time with the animals, time in the new straw maze and in the games room.

  • It all starts with a first note!!

Thu 25 Apr 2019 Ms Rogers

It was lovely to see so many parents and children at yesterday's instrumental Have A Go session. The squeaks, bangs and notes were music to Mrs Irons' ears!

We are hoping that many of the children who attended were inspired to take up a musical instrument in the near future which brings me on to a reminder… please can children currently in years 1 - 5, send in their forms by THIS FRIDAY if you would like to start learning an instrument in September 2019.

Thank you Mrs Irons and her merry musical team for being there last night to support our visitors. It was such a successful after school event and we really do appreciate the support as this was of course, in their free time.

  • Our day at The Eden Project.

Wed 24 Apr 2019 Miss Lyddon

After our farm duties, we travelled about an hour in the coach and/or minibus to The Eden Project. We started the day by having a talk by one of the education team about how the Eden Project was designed, made and enjoyed by many visitors. We then had time to explore the brand new education centre which was great. There were so many things for us to do and see.

After lunch we had our workshop where we explored the main bio-dome which is the Rainforest one. It was so hot but amazing!

Our day ended with free-time with the animals before a falconry display. Wow what a day!!! We have packed in so much and even the sun shone this afternoon.

  • Day 2 at Stone Farm - Morning farm duties

  • Year 4 have arrived at Stone Farm!

Tue 23 Apr 2019 Miss Lyddon

After a safe trip to Devon, Year 4 are thoroughly enjoying their first evening at Stone Farm.

So far our day has involved a stop over at Buckfast Abbey to explore the Abbey, have some time exploring the education centre and having a talk by one of the Monks.

Now at Stone Farm, we have met the lovely Stone Farm Team,  found our luggage and our rooms, had a fire drill, had tea and we are now having some free time around the farm. What a busy day we have had!

  • Wow what great team work to create this wonderful learning area for our children!

Fri 19 Apr 2019 Ms Rogers
A huge thank you to all of our super volunteers who gave up time to help Mr Quilter create our fabulously, refurbished pond area with decking area for pond dipping and hide for wildlife watching! There’s even an assault course for our resident squirrels to enjoy as well! It’s that good that Donald Mallard Duck and his lady Daisy Duck have decided to nest there this season too. This area will be enjoyed by so many of our children and a real haven for super science learning too! Our volunteers really have assisted in realising our school dream/vision of ensuring our children develop a love of the outdoors for a happier and healthier lifestyle.
  • Don’t forget we have an Inset Day coming up!!

Sun 14 Apr 2019 Ms Rogers

Don’t forget that we have our 3rd (of 5) Inset Day on Tuesday 23rd April so our school term starts on Wednesday 24th April.

We all hope that you are all having a good spring break so far.

    Take care.

  • Y4 create Easter Garden for Christchurch

Fri 05 Apr 2019 Ms Rogers
Well done Y4 what a superb effort... not  only did you learn so much about the different symbols within church but you also learned about and created a magnificent Easter Garden for the whole Chineham Community to enjoy. I am so proud of you all. Thank you.
