  • Sports Day Throwing and Jumping Events in Pictures

Fri 25 Jun 2021 Ms Rogers

In the end... despite a dreary and wet start, the weather was kind and our children participated so well in each of the throwing and jumping events today. This year all children took part in each of the events and it was great hearing that many of our children beat their personal bests. Their scores will be totted up and when the children participate in the running events the week after next (week after Inset Days take place) - those scores will be added on. We will let our school community know which colour team are our 2021 winners after that point. We were sad not to have our parents/carers/grandparents come to watch this year - we are hopeful that next year will return to normal.

    Check out the photos below.

  • 'Lookout' Year 1 went on a school trip!

Fri 25 Jun 2021 Mrs Harvey

Yesterday Year 1 went on their end of year trip to the Lookout Discovery Centre in Bracknell. The children and staff had a great day which included going into the woodlands to complete challenges such as identifying trees, using natural resources to create a picture, enjoying a story and hunting for mini beasts. We also  had the chance to explore inside the science exhibition and go into the different areas including woodland and water, light and colour, forces and movement and body and perception.  One of the highlights  of the day was climbing the 88 steps to the top of the tall look out tower. This  was fun for most and little but scary for a few us but it was great to see what it would be like to sit in the tree tops and see things from a birds eye view. It was a great way to round off our Into the Woods topic and we are extremely proud of how sensible our children were.

  • Year 5 Viking and Saxon Day

Thu 24 Jun 2021 Mrs Osborne

The Year 5 children had a lovely day today taking part in lots of fantastic Viking and Saxon activities such as: writing messages in runes, making Viking pouches, drawing Viking and Saxon self portraits and cooking and eating stew. Take a look at the photos to see some of their fantastic costumes...

  • Year 2 trip to the Sea City museum

    Wed 23 Jun 2021

Today the Year 2 children enjoyed a fantastic trip to the Sea City museum in Southampton. We took part in a rotation of activities and learnt even more about the Titanic. There was a self-guided tour around the Titanic and Gateway to the World exhibitions, a discovery session and a hands on workshop. The children were so well behaved and impressed the staff with the facts they already knew about the Titanic. It was a great day and really nice to be able to go on a school trip again!

  • Y4 Treehouse Theatre

    Tue 15 Jun 2021

This week, Y4 have had a brilliant time enjoying a themed day all around the Celts and Romans. We are feeling incredibly grateful the have Ben from the Tree House Theatre come into school and do the play in a day 'The Romans are Coming!'. We have missed these opportunities over the last year and this was exactly what we needed. We are always so, so impressed by Ben's talents and his wonderful flair for story telling and Tuesday was no different. The children were truly in awe of him and were so engaged with the story. We learnt lots along the way whilst we challenged our expressive and dramatic skills. A huge thank you to Ben for sharing this experience with us.

Whilst not in the hall, the children got to free choice their way around a series of stations. One station was using their 'cut, stick and stitch' skills to create a Roman inspired shield (what brilliant sewers you are!). Another was to create a Roman mosaic. At another station we read about the Roman Gods and Goddesses - we were surprised to see some similarities with the Greeks. Hmmm interesting! We worked on our Roman numerals, drew Celtic woad patterns on our faces and had time to share our learning with friends.

The adults in Y4 enjoyed Tuesday as much as the children and this was all down to the hugely enthusiastic nature of Ash and Pine Class. A wonderful day of learning had by all!
