  • Year 3 Judo

    Fri 28 Apr 2017
This half term Year 3 will be having judo for their indoor PE sessions. They had their first lesson today ,with Sensei Paul, and thoroughly enjoyed it. They learned the correct technique for their first hold and then applied it to a judo version of 'Stuck in the mud'.
  • We have moved in!

Fri 28 Apr 2017 Ms Rogers

At long last the new extension has been handed over and our EYFS and KS1 children and staff are very much enjoying being in their new classroom environments. Our Year 5/6 children have also moved out of the modular classrooms into the existing building.

Our staff worked so hard to unpack and set up the classrooms ready for the children so they could settle quickly.

It is so nice having the room to breath now as we were certainly cramped beforehand. There are still a few jobs to do, snags to rectify and furniture to be delivered for the new library area, future classrooms and offices but we are all happy and proud.

A huge thank you to Fiona Burrows  our architect and Balfour Beattie (and the many sub contractors)for constructing such a beautiful extension. It really does blend in with our existing building beautifully.

  • Logistics for the New Term

Thu 20 Apr 2017 Miss Rogers

When you all come back after our holidays (and our Inset Day) on Tuesday 25th April we will have moved into our new extension which means for many of our children they will be in their new classes. How exciting – we simply can not wait and I hope that you and your families are looking forward to it too!

As the manifestations (stickers) on the classroom windows are permanent lots of our children will be in a different class with a different name too – sorry in advance for any confusion but I’m sure we will get used to the changes pretty soon.

    • Holly Class children will be moving to Rowan Class (Miss Khan)
    • Maple Class children will be moving to  Birch Class (Miss Lemar)
    • Chestnut Class children will be moving to  Yew Class (Miss Finnimore)
    • Oak Class children will be moving to Cedar Class (Miss Hanafin)
    • Beech Class children will be moving to Sycamore Class (Mrs Barnhouse)
    • Ash Class children will be moving to Willow Class (Miss Grainger)
    • Hawthorn Class children will be moving to Hawthorn Class (Miss Wright)
    • Hazel Class children will be moving to Hazel Class (Miss Jackson)
    • Pine Class children will be moving to  Pine Class (Miss Corcoran)
    • Sycamore Class children will be moving to Oak Class (Miss Hunt)
    • Willow Class children will be moving to Maple Class (Mrs Osborne)

In the middle of this week's newsletter you will see a plan of the school with the names of the classes placed on it so you can figure out where to drop off and pick up your children as of course we have our super new courtyard too.

You will see on the plan that we have a new pathway into school named Little Binfields entrance. The Pyotts Copse entrance remains the same. The fire trail route around the back of the building will no longer be accessible for drop off or pick up. All pick up and drops are from the courtyard now for children in Years 1-6.

You will see that our EYFS classrooms do not have direct access to the courtyard like all of the other classrooms so parents of children in EYFS will access the area identified on the map in order to drop off and pick up.

If your child attends an early morning intervention, they will now be entering school from Ash Class - Courtyard side.

Please wait in the courtyard area for your child if they attend an after school extra curricular club as the teacher leading the club will lead the children there.

If your child is going to attend our new SCL After School Care Provision, we ask that you make your way around to the courtyard to pick up your child where a SCL member of staff will meet you at our Music and Drama Room door.

You will also see on the plan where the new drop boxes are going to be sited. One will be placed by the play castle in the courtyard and one is going to be situated on the end of the new extension.

On Tuesday 25th April all Class Teachers and LSAs will stand outside of their new classrooms from 8.40am (and for the rest of the week) until the school community is used to the new entrances. Our Leadership Team will also be out on duty to lend a hand if there is any confusion.

  • Whole school ChristChurch visit for Easter

Thu 06 Apr 2017 Miss Rogers

As usual all of our children were extremely well behaved at ChristChurch today.  We were all reminded about the true meaning behind Easter and also had a lovely walk in the sunshine. There were lots of signs of Spring as we walked through the woodland.

Thank you to Mrs Lowe and Ruth for leading today's special assembly.

  • Year 4 Easter Garden

    Wed 05 Apr 2017
Year 4 were invited to Christchurch yesterday to get stuck in and help create the Easter Garden just outside of the church. We were split into 3 groups and then took part in 3 different activities -  a quiz about the church, planting flowers in the Easter Garden and creating a stain glass window cross out of tissue paper. We all had great fun and learnt a lot about the meaning behind Easter.
