  • Great rhythms kids!

Wed 30 Sep 2020 Ms Rogers

I heard a really good rhythm being played out whilst at my desk and I couldn't resist going to have a look. Check out how hard our year 2 children are concentrating on getting it right.. this was just the beginning of Mrs Iron's lesson - it got more complicated as the lesson progressed!

  • Is it a cold or coronavirus??

Thu 17 Sep 2020 Ms Rogers
A blocked nose, a sore throat and a cough are common, especially in the autumn and winter seasons. But how do you know if you or your child has coronavirus? Check out the following useful 1.5 minute video. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/health-54182329
  • Year 6 World War II day - quick, that's the air raid siren!

Thu 17 Sep 2020 Miss Hunt

Year 6 experienced what life would have been like as an evacuee yesterday during our World War Two themed day. The children took part in a variety of activities such as: sewing, medal making, gardening, army drills and an Anderson Shelter air raid practise. The children were able to empathise with how civilians would have felt when they heard the air raid siren sound, particularly if it happened to be at an inconvenient time of the day!

It was so lovely to see how much effort the children had gone to with their costumes. One child even brought in a genuine WWII gas mask box as part of their outfit. The whole year group were in awe of this authentic artefact as many had gone to the effort of making a replica themselves at home.

The Year 6 children have been enthusiastic about the history of the war so far and we cannot wait to delve deeper in our historical enquiry as the term develops.

Take a look at our photos to see what we got up to.

  • Year 1 Farm Visit!

    Tue 15 Sep 2020
The children in Year 1 really enjoyed and learned so much today from Mill Cottage Farm. The two farmers brought their animals which included: goats, pigs, rabbits, sheep and more! They even brought their cute sheep dog for us to meet. The children asked so many great questions as well as answered lots of the questions posed too. This visit really helps our Year 1 children get into their 'Food and Farming' topic. As you can imagine, they absolutely loved grooming and petting our visitors! It was great to see. Can you remember any facts we learnt from our visit? Such as, the name of a female goat, chicken, pig and sheep? We are really pleased with the politeness the children showed towards the visitors. We were very lucky that the sun was shining brightly too!
  • Our children have made us all proud

Sat 05 Sep 2020 Ms Rogers
We want to say a huge thank you to all of our children for what has been a truly wonderful couple of days. We have all been grinning from ear to ear as they have taken all of the changes we have had to make in their stride and they are trying so hard to make a big effort. The children have made a really good first impression on their new teachers and LSAs. It has been lovely seeing them all learning in their classrooms and outside as I have been through school. Great Binfields is so glad we have them all back again!!
