Sat 31 Dec 2016 Miss Rogers

    Happy New Year everyone.

Just a little reminder to say that we have an Inset Day on Tuesday 3rd January 2017. See you all at 8.40am on Wednesday 4th January.

  • Christmas Jumper Competition

Fri 16 Dec 2016 Miss Rogers

Our Vice Chair and Chair of the School Council judged our Christmas Jumper Design Competition. They said it was a tough job and I can well believe that because the standard was brilliant again this year. We also had more entries which was super. Thank you to Mrs Sheers for organising it again for the children.

    So to the winners:

    EYFS - Indie-Joi

    KS1 -O'Shea

    KS2 - Eva

Well done to you all. They received a small prize for their super efforts.

  • Carol Singing at Tescos

Wed 14 Dec 2016 Miss Rogers

Our 18 strong choir sang beautifully at Tescos this morning and thanks to them they have helped to raise funds for the Tescos Toy Bank, where toys are bought and donated for children that are less fortunate than ourselves in the local area.

Thank you to our school community who came to support and for the local community who donated. It is really appreciated.

  • Christmas Dinner

Tue 13 Dec 2016 Miss Rogers
Today was the day for our Christmas Dinner and our children ate it all up so well whilst also having a sing song too. A huge thank you to our kitchen staff for preparing such a lovely dinner for them all and to our school staff who all pitched in again. You are all stars!
  • Lost Property

Mon 12 Dec 2016 Admin Team

We seem to have collected a large amount of 'lost' uniform again.  If your child is missing any items could you please check the Lost Property box outside Hawthorn Class (in the courtyard).  This box will be emptied on Thursday and all items disposed of.

Over the Christmas break can you please check your child's uniform (including PE kit) is clearly named with a permanent pen or name label.

This is also a reminder that our School Uniform policy must be adhered to and checks will take place from January 2017.

  • Father Christmas Came to Visit EYFS

Mon 12 Dec 2016 Miss Lemar
We were very surprised to have a visit from Father Christmas at school today. He took time out of his busy schedule to talk to us and kindly bring us each a gift. A very special Christmas experience for us all. Merry Christmas!
  • Christingle Making at GBP

Mon 12 Dec 2016 Miss Rogers

This morning our children learned about the Christian festival of Christingle. We outlined to them the different parts of the Christingle. I hope that the children will remember what the orange, red ribbon, cocktail sticks and sweets represent... Can they tell you? It is hoped that by having assemblies like this that we remember our core values... that we are kind and caring to one another always and be 'shining lights' to our friends and family just like Jesus is a shining light to all Christians.

I mentioned today that 'The Children's Society' collect donations around the whole of the country during Christingle services and all of the money collected goes towards projects that help vulnerable children. It is hoped that this support will give a little 'light' into their lives.

Thank you to Tescos who provided us with the materials to make our Christingles. We really appreciated your support for this activity.

  • The extension is coming along nicely!

Mon 12 Dec 2016 Miss Rogers

Mrs Worgan will be releasing another New Build News update in the new year but I couldn't resist sharing with you some pictures of our new extension as it has progressed so well.

We are still aiming for completion during mid March so it really isn't that long now before we will be thinking about moving in.

  • News about After School Care Proposal

Sat 10 Dec 2016 Miss Rogers

As some of you will know, we have been in discussions with external providers to look at the possibility of having an after school provision here at Great Binfields. We are pleased to let you know that, following these discussions, we will be working with SCL and hope to be able to offer this service to our school community after Easter 2017.

We are also looking into the viability of offering a similar service to parents on Inset Days and during some of our holiday weeks.

SCL are preparing a short survey which will be sent to all families during January and, depending on the responses received, we would hope our new after school provision would be available from Tuesday 25 April.

Please note we will not be operating any waiting lists in the school office for this provision and booking information will be available after the SCL survey has been completed and a launch date has been set.

  • Christmas assembly at Christchurch

Thu 08 Dec 2016 Miss Rogers
I wanted to convey how proud I am of our entire school during this afternoon's Christchurch assemblies. Not only did the children all really appreciate and observe the correct social etiquette within a place of worship, but they also sang beautifully! We actually think this year is the best year yet with the children, and we are extremely pleased with them and the way they have represented our school.
You may wish to talk to your child today about their Christchurch visit and congratulate them for their wonderful behaviour!
