  • Children's Fair Update

Mon 30 Jan 2017 Miss Rogers

Just a reminder that our Children’s Fair is being held this Friday 3rd February from 1.45 – 2.45 pm. All of our children will have the chance to go to the fair and our younger children will be ably assisted by our KS1 team members. Our KS2 (junior) children have been notified by the Children’s Fair Committee today whether their stall application has been successful.

Prices for playing the games and for the items on sale will be in the 10-30p range. Please ensure that your children bring their pennies (maximum £2) in small change.

You may have some old toys, books, comics or games that would be suitable for such stalls. This is a golden opportunity to clear out any discarded items that would fit the bill.

A separate memo will be sent to stall holders as they will need to collect their equipment/stock and bring it to The Treehouse Room on the Friday morning of the Fair day.  A plan has been produced and will be handed out to the children so all teams know the brief and where their stall will be situated. The children will be able to advertise their stall by popping up posters outside of our main hall. They will need to make their price lists at home. Please note the stall holders will need to stay after the fair has finished to help put the school back together again or Mrs Sampson will be after me! Pick up time for stall holders will still be the normal home time.

As previously stated all money raised will go towards outdoor lunchtime equipment which they will choose as a team. New for this year - a prize will go to the most profitable stall as well as a prize for the best presented stall – hopefully a real incentive to do well!

  • Important Information re Access to School

Sun 29 Jan 2017 Mrs Worgan
On Monday 30 January the gate on Binfields Farm Lane nearest the Balfour Beatty site entrance will not be available for the school community to use. This is part of the work being carried out to create the new school entrance. The gate at the other side of the modular building (where the cycle/scooter racks are) can still be used.

The contractors will start working on this area from Tuesday 31 January and it is likely to be out of action until the end of the contract period.

  • KS1 Skipping competition

Fri 27 Jan 2017 Mrs Barnhouse
On Wednesday a selection of Year 2 children attended the Basingstoke skipping competition. We were one of 12 schools that took part. During the afternoon children had to skip individually, freestyle and on a long rope. The children represented the school really well, enjoying being part of a team. Well done Year 2!
  • Year 3 Victorian Treehouse Theatre

    Thu 26 Jan 2017

Yesterday, Year 3 enjoyed working with the Treehouse Theatre Group as they learned about the plight of Victorian children in workhouses and on the streets . Ben, the actor who works with the children is absolutely brilliant. They had a great day whilst also reinforcing some of their knowledge of the Victorian period.

  • We've been nominated for a Sports Award!!!!

Thu 26 Jan 2017 Ms Rogers

After a careful review of many very high standard nominations,  finalists have been chosen for various awards at the Basingstoke & Deane Sports Awards which is going to be hosted by the Apollo hotel on Friday evening early in March.

I am very pleased to advise that not only was our school nominated for the awards but we have been selected as a finalist in the 'Sporting School of the Year Category' and are invited to the evening awards ceremony. The organisers have said that this year has seen an extremely high standard so we are delighted and so proud to have got this far already. I hope you are all proud of our children's efforts too! As you can imagine Miss Grainger is over the moon and quite rightly so!

Details of the Basingstoke & Deane Sports Awards will be published on the Sports Council website www.basingstokelsc.org – Sports Awards . The Sports Funding is supplied by Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council – The Awards are Organised by Basingstoke Sports Council

  • Sainsbury's Active Kids Scheme

Thu 26 Jan 2017 The Admin Team

    Dear Parents,

Once again Sainsbury's are launching their Active Kids scheme and will be giving out vouchers with any shopping bought between today, 25th January, and 30th June 2017.

Great Binfields are participating and we will have a voucher collection box situated in the entrance area to the school. We will be extremely grateful for any vouchers collected and donated to us. Last year we managed to replenish and purchase a whole range of brilliant new PE equipment which the children benefit from, so we are hoping to do that same again this year!

    Thanks very much in advance,

  • School Council on Site Walk

Wed 25 Jan 2017 Jules Rogers

Our School Councillors acted very professionally yesterday as they conducted their planned site walk to see our new extension in working progress. The children looked great in Balfour Beatty's safety gear as you can see in the pictures below.
The children asked some amazing questions as they toured around, they learned a great deal and were very polite too. Every single child was a real credit to our school. Mr Mel Plumpton, Keith and Kay were impressed with them all also. I think they made their day! Miss Khan and I are so proud and we can not wait for the children to now share their new found knowledge with the rest of the school next week which will be during an assembly.

Thank you to Mr Plumpton, Keith and Kay for your time - it is greatly appreciated.
